Car: 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe

Post

A couple of weeks ago, an individual made a left turn in front of me at an intersection, causing severe damage to the front end of my car.

Details:2005 G35 coupe with 16,500 miles; certified pre-owned, flawless. Bought used this past Nov. 10 (only made 1 payment so far). The other driver was cited for failure to yield.

Damage estimate: $13,152 (approx. half the car's value).• Frame rails need to be removed and replaced.• Engine needs to be pulled, and radiator, condenser and other parts in front of the engine replaced.• All sheet metal, etc. forward of the windshield must be replaced.

Has anyone had any recent experience with setting Diminished Value with the insurance company? Any experience with the reults of having such repair work done?

Thanks.

When my wife's lancer was hit by a FedEx truck....only a month after we bought it, we were given 2k for diminished value on a 6k repair bill. It goes by state on how much $$ you get...Check your state laws.

I think they will probably fix it.

The G's have high repair cost because the car folds up to protect you and the parts are exspensive.

INMHO I would let your local Infiniti dealer do the repair work. Time to check out a new 08. See what kind of a deal you can work out with the dealer? Selling it privately you would probably have to disclose the accident. Trading it in, the dealer may just send it to an auction where some sucker looking for a deal will buy it. S#@t happens

I don't know how you guys do it, but for me it is if my car get in an accident the insurance company gives me 3 different shop to pick. Once I picked they give me a loaner and they pay for everything except deductable. I don't see any money. I leave my car in their hand and they will fix it for me.

All I can say try to negotiate with your insurance company.

Have they taken the car apart yet? When they do, they always seem to find something else. Wait until all the damage is known before deciding what is best. I wish you the best.
