Hey PPL. Ive been lurking on here for a coule months now and finally decided to suit up and join the fight. But to the point.......Tax season is here and I need a car......would like it to be RWD fairly good looking, good handling, and most importantly reliable. Hence why Im gettin a nissan of some sort. The dilema is 240 or z32?? I have a buddy that was selling his 92 300 2+2 MT with 85K for 2500$......but he started smokin MJ and dissapeared off the face of the planet....really, he did. But now that Ive started lookin, I see allot around the 3000$ price range with over140k. But I dont see ANY s14s around there.......Is it a wise decision to get a 3000$ z32?? Or should I wait for a cheap s14. Im not a stranger to the cramped engine bay but It will be a daily driver. and cant be down for months. Not lookin for high horse power....yet. But I know both platforms are capable....HELP!!

I can only vouch for the Z32, but 3000 seems to be a low cost car to me. I picked up my Z for slightly more with 119k miles. I have put maybe 2000 miles on it in 3 years. The car is great, fun, sporty, gets lots of respect, and has tons of parts out for it. I don't know if your looking to a Twin Turbo or not, but even if you can find a Twin for that kinda cash, the car will always cost more down the road. The matinence of any turbo veichle will cost you a comprable amount more than its NA predecessor .

Also I am a huge S14 fan, if you can get one for the same price as a 300zx thats your call. I personally would prefer the NA S14 probably over an NA 300, everyone wants the 300zx to be TT otherwise its not as cool (for that good reason). S14 is a cool car, just keep it in the Nissan family...

Welcome to Nico!return??? I might have to pay this year!? still got some stuff to get to gether to find out

to the car issue, these things are very reliable when proper maintenance is done, at 140k it should have had a recent timing belt, waterpump, cam and crank seals, tensioner, tensioner stud, idelers and studs, if not budget about $500 for the parts, if they have records of a recent belt it's pretty much smooth sailing, keep the fluids changed and you should get yeras of trouble free operation, there might be occasional parts failures but no different from any other car, for $3000 you can get a pretty decent N/A, maybe a little rough around the edges but hey we're talkign about 15 year old cars, the turbo's are gonna cost a good bit more, as for the s13 get the car you like better , they both have shortcomings, get the car you want, but driving a z makes you a better person

Car: 1990 300zx na

I just bought a 1990 300 na with 113K for $4000. It needed fuel injectors, rear bushings and minor other parts. Parts alone cost me a bit over a grand. so far I don't regert it. I also looked into the s14s. Your call. For the money it is better to get a solid base than a TT thats seen its day. You can always do a conversion later if you stumble into some extra money. For a daily driver NA has enough horsepower to get around town and more.

Thanx guys, I was really more worried about long term reliability since the Z is bout 15 years old.... I want a 2+2 (somebody WILL squeeze back there) besides its slightly less on insurance, and by time Im ready or have the money 2 do a TT swap Ill be 25 or I wont have it anymore *sniffle* Still strange its easier to find a good condition sports car cheaper then a beat down econo box. Even if it is capable of handing cars 2wice *** much their a$$. Dammed drift craze....
