Been going back and forth on what I want to do with my Q for a few years now. Rarely gets driven any more. It does have some issues and really needs some love and attention which I just don't feel like doing any more. It runs and drives. It has some squeaks and rattles, turbo is leaking oil so it smokes some but mostly just when you get on the gas, along with a few other issues. Over 200K on the clock.
So my thoughts and options...
1) Sell it outright as-is. Probably be lucky to get $2500 for it.
2) Spend some time cleaning it up, fixing a few things, would still have some remaining issues. Might get it up to $3000-$3500 range. I don't really want to put much more time or money into it unless I was keeping it...
3) Partial part out and return to "mostly" stock. Primarily pull the turbo system out and sell as a 'kit' for a '94 G50 Q. Might work on the older models as well. Turbo needs a rebuild or replacement to fix the leak. Would include many, many parts, plumbing, turbo, BOV, wastegate, ECU, oil pump, FMIC, on and on. If I could find the right buyer, the turbo kit would likely fetch upwards of $2k+. Then sell the car as a NA again and would probably get $1500 - $2000 range. Would be quite a bit of work to pull out all the turbo stuff. Would be nice to find someone who wanted to restore it back to all it's glory or just wanted to pull the good parts off themselves.
You guys have any thoughts? Anyone considering turbo'ing their G50 that might be interested in the turbo as a kit? Anyone on here that may be interested in the entire car? Anyone local I would certainly be available for tech support and maybe even a little hands on assistance if they needed it...
