We get a good amount of snow around here every year and in 13 years, my car hasn't succumbed yet. In my experience, snow and ice won't hurt your car. I've had ice so thick that I couldn't open the doors, and snow more than a foot deep on all of my cars. None of them have ever sustained even a bit of damage.

So I wouldn't worry too much. If you want to, you could spray the car with water (not too warm, you'll risk cracking or shattering your glass!), but unless it's obscuring your view or something, I'd just let it be. If you drive the car very far, it'll warm up and melt most of the ice off anyway.

Yeah I'd say you're fine - nothing to worry about. Growing up in Saskatchewan this was something I faced many many months out of the year. The last winter I spent there we had a 30 day stretch where the WARMEST temperature was - 30 C..... ice and snow covered cars were the norm and I never experienced or heard of it doing damage (now the ice on the roads... that's another story).

Just scrape off the ice/snow from your windows and let the rest melt.

Looks almost like MY Versa yesterday. Mine had about 1.5 feet of snow on it tho. After I knocked it all off I realized that I should have taken a picture. Took a pic of my daughter's Pontiac Wave tho. Even today I couldn't roll down any of my windows. The were still stuck. Wanted to yell at some dumbass driver this morning and my window wouldn't go down. All my yelling was wasted inside the car.

As for the ice on your Versa. It's supposed to rain by Friday anyway. This IS Vancouver after all. I'd be more concerned with the salt and sand all over the car. Time to give the baby a bath.

You should yell some more. If you fill the cabin with enough hot air, it bound to spread throughout the rest of the car.

I feel for you guys. Our high here today was 80 and the low was 70

All you guys in warm/temperate climates are funny. It's not even that cold in the Northwest... a little snow storm... and mid 20's. When I lived in Michigan, I would just clear my car with my wipers and rear defroster, unless it was more tha 6" of snow. 12" required a quck once over with a little hand brush just so the snow didn't go inside the car when I opened the door.

I grew up in southern Ontario. I am very experienced with cold weather and lots of snow. The snow here is quite different than the snow there. It is substatially wetter. When the temperature drops it freezes the wet snow virually encasing your car in a block of ice. You and your little brush would be laughed out of the parking lot. The wet snow is also far more difficult to drive in. And again once it freezes the roads become a sheet of ice. It is entirely different conditions than Michigan. Combine that with the fact that it doesnt snow very often here and we are not used to having to deal with it and you have chaos. And it's colder than you think here. Temp is supposed to get down to -18C tonight (whatever that is in F)

That's pretty close to 0 F... maybe even 5 below.

What he said about the thickness and wetness of the snow is very correct. Even driving on the eastern side of the mountains in this state is very different, because you get powder over there... not this slop.

And we have SO god damn many California transplants here, who have never seen snow in their life...

Even here on LI the snow is bad when there's a lot of accumulation. When it snows a lot, it tends to melt and refreeze over the coarse of the storm. If it doesn't warm up for a sufficient amount of time afterwards, we could be left with ice for weeks because they tend to sand the roads around here, not salt them.

We use sand opposed to salt here also. Better for your car bodies... by far. In the Subaru world, east-coasters actually buy old west coast cars and ship them back east.

Of course, NORMALLY it gets above freezing consistently after snowing. This time it didn't, it plummeted to 23 in my city and stayed there. It MIGHT get above freezing tonight... but we're going to see more snow first.

It's ridiculous here, its been in the 50's all month, they say it might cool down in a week or two though. It's awkward being able to go outside in a t-shirt and rolling down my windows knowing that it's almost December.

Ha ha, I'm from California and it snowed ONCE when I was growing up. Now, living in Portland, I see snow once or twice every couple years, but it's still a rarity. Viva California!!!

You think that's weird. Try having to use a/c in your car and home because it's still hot out. It's supposed to cool down here finally later this week. But we are only supposed to get down to where you are now. I'm going to be taking my V to Halifax next month (If I get it before I leave). Hopefully I get to see some snow there.

Well, I actually used the a/c on my way upstate this past Sunday. It's weird weather for LI for sure, right now it should be in the 30s or 40s at most, but I'm not complaining.

Well another dumping of snow here here tonight then it's back to normal, 6 degrees and rain tomorrow. With all this snow and the gutters blocked its going to be soup here. The next question I'll post is How does your Versa handle in ankle deep water.

I feel for all you west coaster not use to the white stuff... i wonder how those south affican people felt when they saw the white stuff. About the frozen snow just leave it and should be fine as other people have mention. And ankle deep water question the answer is dont drive really fast ..if higher then ankle then you definatly on the wrong road

Today: 63Tomorrow: 66

They're predicting nothing lower than 40 for next week. This is not December weather for LI at all. 66 degrees is a weird way to start off December.

That's the remnants of the system that hit us. Be glad you only got flurries. We got wet snow that turned to slush, then the arctic blast hit and it all froze immediately. Mm... glare ice. On hills. Fun stuff. And our DOT was predicting rain, not snow, so they didn't send out the plows/deicers.

Meanwhile, on the East coast, Halifax is having high temperatures, more like Vancouver weather, lol. We've had to open the windows at work a few times last week. Though it looks like we're finally going to get some of the wet stuff tomorrow... "A mix of rain and snow" - oh joy

Coming from Nova Scotia, it is rather amusing to see people worried about the "frozen liquid" on their car. Frozen Liquid = Winter for us Your car will be fine...

When I need a thaw-out, I go shopping, or to the theatre, or to Canada Place to wait in line for government services, or anywhere there's underground parking. Just let the warmer air melt all the ice away.
