I've got a question. This a$$ has been harassing me on my online journal. I usually post rants about vegans/protestors/idiots/ and other stupid things like that. I hate the annonymous posters so I have set it so that if they post their IP address is logged onto the comment for me to see. So now i have the ****-gobbler's IP address. What can I do with it? In terms of finding out who this assclown is and what I can do to get some good old fashioned revenge.

good luck. Supreme court upheld that it's not legal to find someone based on their IP address (that's why we can download from Kazaa again without worry from the RIAA for now). Also, IP's are dynamic for the most part (especially if he's on a dial up service like AOL) so if you blocked that particular IP, he'd pop back on with a different IP.

subpoena their ISP's logs to find out to whom that IP was assigned at the time you logged it, good luck :D

You can also complain to their ISP directly as well. If these folks are violating the terms and conditions of service of the ISP, it will get them kicked off.

Finding out the ISP is a matter of doing a WHOIS lookup on the IP address. If you need help with this, let me know.

Enter the IP in there and then complain to the ISP that it spits out. Make sure to mention a Time and Date.

Oh, how I long for the old days when you just followed someone home, dragged them out through their window and beat their a$$ in the driveway. :(

Probaly using UCLAs computers. It would be possible to figure out who he was and get his account taken away. Worth the trouble?

Look at 6.n of their policies (link on top of first page). Sounds like he is violating them. Sircnay, you could contact them and do what lessthanjakejohn suggested. Just need to provide them with accurate time, and IP use at that time, information.

Well ... it seems to be letting ICMP messages through. Not enough of a firewall there! I could go further, but ... I do not know if this is Buud's real IP address anyway! :)

Folks, do not post your IP address publicly!

With DDoS, you do not need the extra bandwidth ... you rely on many other (possibly faster) machines to do it for you!

If someone were to use Knoppix STD, it comes with all kinds of crap that could be used to abuse this guy.

Thanks to all of you. And yes, it would be worth the trouble, I allowed him or her many chances to leave me alone. But whatever, it's my turn to kick some ***.

update: I bluffed and just came out saying "I know who you are." and he revealed himself like an idiot. Now I know who he is, where he goes to school and hell I know where he lives. I didn't even need to match IP's. All I need all along was his stupidity.

Hey guys, yeah, about my IP address. If you know anything about ping, did you notice anything odd about the response time you're getting?

This is why I have more than a few times edited and warned people who post sigs that tell people what their IP address is. No one wants to see a member's computer being damaged from using this site.

Wow, I thought for sure someone would catch it. My "router IP" is obviously a Class C internal IP address only.

And "my ip" is a 127 loopback IP address. Any address in the 127 range is merely looping back and pinging your ethernet interface. LOL.

Any open ports that you guys are scanning are open ports on your own workstation.

Man, this is funny.
