My 1991 Q45 engine just died. (220,000 miles, maybe it was the notorious timing chain guide issue? I'll never know, I can't afford to pull it apart.)

I am wondering what to do with this car. Most of the things on the car work fine. It has the touring-style genuine-BBS alloy wheels. 10 disc changer. Many but not all of the body panels are straight, good tranny, etc.

Problem is, I am a student and do not have time to part this car out myself.

Question: Do I put this thing up on autotrader? Or call my local wrecking yard? Is it worth anything, or is it junk?

I live in Seattle.

Don't send it off to a junkyard without unbolting a few of the more expensive, easy to get to parts. I would think that with just the basic hand tools and a ratchet set you could get the MAF, ECU, plenum, power antenna, trim pieces, etc. and make a few hundred bucks on e-bay. I know there's other easy to get to parts but I can't think of them at the moment.

The parts I've mentioned would take about 1-2 hours to remove. It does take a lot more time though to list, sell and ship using ebay. There's a few members in the Seatle area. Maybe one of them will take on the parting out and split the $$$ with you. Good luck.

I live near Seattle, and would be interested in some of the parts. What condition is the transmission in, and how much do you want for it?, I can pull it. I might want the CD changer also, how much? To bad it died, 220,000 is not bad though.

What to do? Cry.

Then sell NICO your MAF, FPCU, BBS wheels, and seats if theyre in good shape. All pretty easy to remove. If I was in Spokane at the moment I'd haul it off for you.

Just so you know, neighbor, there is a '91 Q45 for sale in the Seattle Times with about 156,000 miles on it. The owner says it has a rebuilt trans and started asking $2,150 for it. The price has dropped to $1,650 as of this weekend. Maybe you could swap out the engine??

On the other hand, what is the color of your interior and the condition of your rear seats??

Ohh, I would like to buy it. What a low price, but then again with 1600+ bucks could go into my 94. Cool to hear about such a good deal, I might talk to the guy and see if he will part it out? Are their any Tacoma Nissan clubs or Infiniti clubs around, would be great to start one if their isnt one already.

Not sure if its q45a. the Vehicle Identification Number is JNKNG01CXMM106236. At this point I will let the highest offer take it away, it must go this week. I will consider any offer.

Someone go get this car - It sounds worth repairing, if not parting out...

Just the MAF, injectors, KS, ignitors, antenna and CD changer alone are worth more than he's asking for the car!

What happened in 1996?

The previous owner, who bought it after 1996, told me it was in a rear-end accident. The car was sandwiched, leaving the hood slightly bent up in the middle (very hard to tell) and the rear bumper messed. Of course I'll never know what really happened, since I bought the car in 2004, but the car was issued a salvage title after that accident. Its not clear to me why because the car drives straight, does not seem to have any alignment or bent chassis issues and there was minimal body damage. Perhaps damaged body panels needed a lot of work, but if so it was good work as I couldn't tell when I bought the car that anything had been repainted or filled in. Probably the car just wasn't worth on paper the cost of repairs so the insurance co. totalled it.

The car was subsequently damaged in a minor accident, which contributed an additional dent in the body behind the gas cap and moved the trunk a little off center but alignment was not affected and trunk still opens and locks normally.

From the passenger side, or in the driver's seat, you would never know this car had a salvage title or had ever been in an accident. The doors, and the body panels in front of the doors, are straight, all the seals are good, and the paint is still in good condition. But that won't matter if someone is just parting this baby out, which I think is her likely destiny at this point.

I need someone to take this car off my hands this week. I haven't taken any parts off of her, and I will consider any offer.

P.S. The 2005 failed emissions was for a leaky gas cap. So whomever is parting this out you get a new $8 gas cap as well.
