Hi, first I want to thank all of you for your forum and all the help I have gotten from this site. Haven't posted a lot but i have done many searches that have yielded great results and saved my butt a few times!

SO per my last post and had to do the water pump on my 94 sentra ga16de with auto transmission and after reading a few posts it seems as though replacing the timing chain tensioners and guides while I had half the front apart for the water pump was a good idea. I did this and once I got it back together a rattle/chain noise developed at startup. To make a long story short i couldnt find anything wrong with the upper tensioner and the timing chain cover was such a pain in the butt to take apart and work on with the motor in the car that I decided to drop the motor and trans so I had room to work and could make sure I got the cover and all seals correctly replaced so I don't have to worry about having to do it again.

NOw my question is...I have the motor and transmission out of the car. Car has 135,000 miles on it.

What else should I do to the motor or transmission while I have it out to ensure I get a lot of miles out of it before having to do this again?!!!

It has a new
water pump,
upper and lower tensioners,
left timing chain guide,
crank seal

Anything else that I should do to the motor or transmission while it is out I want to do now. Or for that matter if there is anything I should do to the rest of the car while I have a lot of room in the engine compartment I want to do as well!!!!

All suggestions are very appreciatied!!!
Thanks Guys...and Gals?! :dblthumb:

Welcome back!

For starters, I'd suggest doing new o rings on the injectors, gaskets on the intake manifold, any worn rubber pieces that are otherwise tough to reach (such as anything under the intake manifold). It could be a good time for a new valve cover gasket, too.

Thank you for the suggestions. It had been a minute since I worked on this project so I looked at the dash the other day and it has 156,xxx miles on it....little more then I realized. I replaced one of the injectors about 2 years ago maybe around 110, xxx miles. I have heard that you should replace all injectors at the same time or get them cleaned so one cylinder isnt working harder then the others. Is that true or do you think the o rings are all that needs to be done?

Anything maintenance wise I should do to the transmission or on the body?

I was thinking I would do the rear main seal since I have the transmission and motor seperated.

Thanks again!

I wouldn't worry about changing all of the injectors, but changing the O Rings before they deteroriate and leave you chasing a problem with a bad idle or weird running. They're cheap and take little to no time to change.
Definitely do the rear main seal!
