I was driving today when all of a sudden my oil light came on. So I checked the oil and the oilpan and they were both fine so I assumed it was a bad sensor. So I keep driving when my car starts to slow down and I cant boost, then I pulled over and it stalled out, checked oil again still full. I start up the car and its squeaking really loud and smoke was coming from my oil filler cap when i took it off. I was only about 3 miles from home so I decided to try and make it home, when I start to hear a ticking, fast and loud ticking, next thing I know my motor is knocking then BOOM car dies I pull to the side of the road and car wont start at all. This all happened like an hour ago so I havent done a compression test or anything yet. Now my question is what do I do if it is blown? I really dont have any funds I just started school at UTI, I have no job because i just moved out to IL like a week ago, and I have $200 in my bank account to live for a while. Should I sell the car which is a nice TV2 bayside blue s13 coupe, with glossy black buddy clubs, s14 interior blah blah, for a cheap price with the blown sr and goodies still inside? Should I sell the shell for like $1000 then part out the motor? Should I just keep the car and spend the $200 on some beater car so I can get a job or something? I really dont know what to do and I really wasnt expecting this at all.

EDIT: It's a redtop with 3"dp, 3"exhaust, Greddy FMIC, stock boost with aprox. 50k miles. Just put in fresh mobil 1 15w 50 900 miles ago.

Unfortunate. Um...i guess if money is a big issue you'd have to sell the car...if you can get a beater, then do that and just put the car to the side....fix it over time...to get money for emergencies you can part out like the rims and stuff to get a few bucks ya know.

Shouoldn't you have looked into it a little more if you thought there was a problem? I mean as SOON as it started making noise I would have had it off the road.

BTW No sense in foolin yourself, you did blow up the motor and I don't think your going to be able to fix it for cheap. Might be time to start lookin for a KA or sombody who would trade you one for a blown SR.

Your motor was trying to tell you something when it stalled out. You should have listened to her. Sounds like maybe the oil pump. mos def. You shouldn't be able to even crank it over. Do you know if you threw a rod in the process? I blew my first SR and found a short block for $600. Sell a few things and find a short block and in the meantime you might want to buy a beater. Sorry to hear about your loss.

at the apartment complex we live at we aren't allowed to do ANY work on our cars or else I would just buy a shortblock and go to work.

I just did a compression test.

Results = #1 = 0psi#2 = 0psi#3 = 15psi#4 = 150psi

I would have been willing to trade a good, running KA for the blown SR.
