Well today I had a guy back into me trying to parallel park. Completely his fault not mine at all. The pics show the damage. I can't get the hood to open but i dont think any engine damage happened because it drives fine. I'm droppin it off at the body shop soon to get an estimate but I wanted to see what you guys think first.

I was wondering how big of a check they'll send me. Also I was thinking about what I should do. I know that buying used parts is cheaper so instead of just gettin it replaced to spec I was thinking that the only parts I will need is a new hood and some hardware because I think that I can live with the nicks in the front bumper. PUt a little touch up paint on them and live with it. I'm a broke college student trying to pocked as much of this check as possible by doing a lot of the work myself and buying as little as necessary for used pricing etc. you get the idea.

SO just let me know what you think I should do. I use to drive a 91 niisan 300zx twin turbo so this is my first 240. I got it a couple weeks ago. I was also headed to take some pics of the car when the accident happened to try and sell it. Wondering what i could get. It has 167 on odom but 70 on engine. Um front bumper side skirts rear bumper tint white gauges 17 inch wheels. 10 inch jl sub with jl 250x1 amp. automatic etc. I'm thinkin that it'll be like 3-4k to fix to insurance spec but am trying to do it myself and pocket money... hit me up with ideas.

You know; everytime I think something crappy happend to my car, I can always come here and see someone else who is in much worse shape. Thanks for making me feel better. I hit this huge rock yesterday and dented the crap out of my right front wheel (A replacement will be here next week), but still; WHAT ARE BOLDERS DOING ON THE FREEWAY??

Well it wasn't my fault so I'm getting this fixed for free. Since it was the other drivers fault. So its not like i hit a tree and i'm having to replace all this with money out of my own pocket. But that sucks that you hit a rock. That would piss me off bad haha

there's the first thing to do. NOT put "what to do. what to do" as the thread title.

Next, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Get the estimate from a body shop to see how much the damage will be to fix and whether or not the insurance company will total the car or not.

With that money, I would see about getting a kouki front-end. I mean, you're 75% there anyway.

Dude man your car is hella clean! If I were you I wouldnt sell it. Because the car isnt totally screwed up. So ya man if you get a fat check. Get a CF hood, koyo radiator(if it's broken, but seems fine) and some headlight, grill may be a paintjob! Then you are all set!

Well I know I will be getting this fixed for free. The accident was completely not my fault whatsoever. The owner of the vehicle has 2 diff types of insurance and is a school teacher and admitted fault. What is a koico Front end? And I'm not looking to get any horsepower since I owned a 400+ hp 300zx so addin like 5 or 10 hp isn't what i'm after. The car is really clean and I noticed that someone mentioned that it might be totalled out? How could that possibly be. Do you think that there is enough damage for that to happen. It only really messed up the hood, grill, and bumper. And hardware most likely.

depends on blue book value usually and 80% of that iirc the figure. so if the kbb value of the car at the mileage it's at is laughable, and the repairs are 80% of that figure, chances are they'll total it out.

You forget labor and paint when they run the estimate figures.

wait so I just bought this car for 5600. The blue book is like 4100 dollars. So what happens if they total it out. ****. I thouht I was going to make money on it but if they total it out I'm absolutely ****ed aren't I? This is upsetting. I'm going to get screwed aren't I? Even though the accident wasn't my fault whatsoever in any way.

Like you said, it isn't your fault. I would work with their insurance adjuster and show them your $5100 bill-of-sale and demand that. Don't back down and don't be in a rush to settle.

I really don't think thats enough damage to total. Its just the hood and bumper and grill. Thats not no over 5 grand in damage lol. I think I'm just trippin but I'm waiting for a call back from the adjustor right now. There still trying to figure out liability right now cuz he didnt have insurance on the vehicle
