Hello All. Just have a quick questions. Some little @#$@$% stuck a knife or a screwdriver in the sidewall of one my front left tire. I just put on the donut and was wondering what will happen next.

I contacted the police since I hear 10 people got hit along the street.

1) Will the one tire be replaced since I only 11000 kilometers or tire or will they have to replace 2 or all of them

2) Will this effect the tire pressure sensor.

Oh ya I drive the Canadian version Rogue SL AWD Premium package I am going to see the insurance company tomorrow to see if it covered.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

because it was vandalism your insurance should cover it. Depending on what your deductible is, you may decide it is best just to replace the tire and pay for it yourself. Most tire repair shops know how to connect the sensor when they replace the tire. Just make sure you let them know the vehicle has the tire pressure monitor system.

Good luck and I hope they catch the Bast%$ds that did it!!

This won't really help to fix your tire, but maybe somebody had a security camera in the area. Would be nice to catch the perp.(punk a** 15y/o most likely)

According to the insurance company website, they should cover it. My deductible is 200 bucks.

I am just curious the amount of work that is required.

I think it's as simple as just putting the new tire on the rim. If the TPMS is like my Nissan Frontier's TPMS, the sensor is somewhere on the valve.

If I were going to foot the bill for it, I'd just replace the one tire. You've put few enough miles on it that the difference in tread wear won't be too substantial.

If the insurance company is going to pay.. i'd push to have all 4 replaced. Because it's an AWD, it important that all 4 tires have equal tread for winter handling and performance.

Ok, here's reality:

It's 1 tire.

It's under $150 mounted and balanced

The TP sensor is in the valve stem and undamaged.

It's under your deductible, just go get the rim dropped off and get it done.

Hold on to the receipt and photo document the tire. In case they happen to catch the kid, submit it to the courts directly.

And whoever suggested to 'if you go through the insurance company, push to have all 4 replaced' has obviously never had an insurance claim before.

The insurance company owes to put you in pre-loss condition. If they were to replaced all 4 they would be putting you in a better condition. They do not owe you for this. And besides, the tread difference of 10k miles or kilometers is neglible.

MadMountie is right on. One tire is one tire. Good luck. Don't reach for the stars.
