whats up people.

so ill lay the problem out. basically i have had my s14 for around 4-5 months now and love it, it has been my first 240 and hasn't given me any problems seams to run like a champ whenever i need it to even with over 220k on the clock. now i found a free shell that has pretty much perfect paint and body, sunroof, new polly bushings. everything that i want. the problem is the motor doesn't run and the guy doesn't know whats wrong. now my car needs some body work and what not but it hasn't let me down yet and gets me from a-b just fine even thought i drive the dogpiss out of her.

i am kinda second guessing myself on if i should pick up this new shell and put all my interior, suspison and everything on it. its just seems like a lot of work when i have a perfectly running car as it is and to take all this and put it in a car that well wont run and have no idea why just seams a little stupid to me. altho i do really want a clean body se, and it could be somthing as simple as timing is off or somthing.

what would you do if you where in my shoes?

Keep your car, and save the money for when you need it to fix it. No need to have 2 semi-working-but-on-the-verge-of-dying-or-doesn't-even-run-but-looks-"good" cars.

when you say "free shell" does that mean like, no money for it? if thats the case then idk what your asking man, take the free stuff!!!
Or, if i read that wrong, i would just keep your car. its better to have a car that runs and maybe doesnt look that great then to have on e that doesnt drive but looks ok

If the free shell is in better condition body wise, and you can twist a wrench, why not swap your good drive train into the cleaner car along with any other performance pieces you already have. Then you would have an all around nice car, running and looking good.

I say get the shell only if you can find a good running motor to put in first (not including your own). Then once its all perfect and running, swap over cosmetic stuff (interior, random stuff). Then sell other car.

the thing is i would have to take the hubs, and all my susp arms off to put on the new one with my wheels so eather way i would have to take my car running car down. yeah the shell is free, the guy dosnt really know much about them so like i said it could be somthing easy to fix. but i just dont know.

You could always do it in a day and get some friends to help. Provide pizza and beer and I bet it wouldn't be so hard.

If you're down south you might not have this problem, but up north the snow/salt combo leads to clean (let alone free!) shells/cars as a rarity. Due to this, I say anything that's free and clean, you should go for.

yeah it was to good to be true, when i looked at it the first time i just kind of snapped a pic and had to go... got a good look at it today and was not impressed at all, the rockers where completely rusted out, had a big bondo spot chipping off, trunk floor was cut out, motor was locked up, and the list goes on... long story short i didn't get it. just needed a lot more then the one i already have.... + i really don't have room for another car right not.

i guess it was just to good to be true..

Ah, that makes sense then haha. That sucks though, things like that always get your hopes up.
