I was wondering about what to do because I don't want to go one route and then after its all said and done be disappointed. Well it all started a few onths ago when I blew my stock turbo. I was taking off the stock exhaust manifold and I saw it, my head was cracked, I don't know how or when. So I have two choices: one to get a new head and continue to go along with my plan to put a hx35 or just say screw it and get an LS1 and build one of them. So what does everyone think? I swear everything has gone bad on this engine.

LS1 aint a bad way to go man, you can probably part out your RB and pay for most if not all the LS1

I can get you a new head for $500 shipped. You'd need to swap springs and cams though.

Since u already have a RB swap and its only a 20 why not swap in a RB25!!! Your power goal is very important though because my drifter buddy blew his RB20 and just bought a RB25 engine for 800 bucks and used the rb20 wiring harness and ECM(since he went with a rom tune instead of a standalone) and his rb20 transmission. he has been drifting with me for over a year and the tranns didn't blow yet and he uses a holeset hx40

Power Goals?

Get a new head from CJMartz2k, install new ARP head-studs and an OEM head gasket, then look into the HX and injectors.

I already have a 25 in my car. As far as my power goals I'm looking for something around 500hp.

Then install an HX35/40 hybrid or straight HX40. </thread>

it'll probably be the hybrid since I already have a 35 in the garage. Oh, my buddy bailed on his swap and I'm gonna try to get his head since since he owes me a favor.

Yeah i noticed that after i wrote the post and realized i made a mistake lol oh well. Thats right a long block goes for around 700-850 bucks just a few more dollars then a replacement head. I think that is a better idea then changing the entire power plant to a LS1. You have the engine that can make that power fairly easy with a few modification's.

Well I made my decision, I'm gonna stick with my rb mainly because of the cost. The cost for me to swap a LS would be higher for me than the rb option. Also I kind of want to drive the car before winter. I ordered most of what I need. The only thing I need to get is the tuning part. I wonder if I can get a chipped burned for the turbo I have and the injectors I have and just tighten up the tune with my safc, because I forgot about the rb20 ecu that I put a socket in.

Since you live in PA a drive down to king of Prussia wont be far for you. My tuner is very good he tunes most of the Nissan's around here and his sr puts down 450whp. A lot of people come from new jersey, new york and all around for him to tune their cars. No real appointment needed just let him know the weekend your coming down. hes very knowledgeable and he will help you out with ur setup and clean it up if need be. so if your interested ill give you his website so you can look into it further

If you consider the Nistune option, I think Carl H can update the base tune for you or at least install the board. I know Glenn is the US installer in Texas and I'm sure he does the same services.

The website is RomIsBurning.com. He we burn a base map then dial the car in to acheive the best performane. Your ecm you run is a rb20 ecm right cause you can't chip the rb25 ecm's. Just curious what mafs do u have and what injectors and im guessing ur goona put the HX35 on............and are you talking about glenn with the rb25 in his black s14

I checked out that site and sent an e-mail, but my only concern is the distance. Even though it says Towanda on my account, I'm living in Binghamton, NY for grad school. I know theres guys who have RB's up here, I just haven't found any to ask them where they got there tune from.

why don't you explain how i am WRONG instead of just posting WRONG tell me how to put a daughterboard in the computer cause i have opened up both and found that the traditional chip doesn't fit so it calls for a custom daughterboard which is $$$$$ compared to the rb20 ecm so please enlighten me

calm down cupcake. yeah your wrong. there is a place stateside that will chip the Rb25 ecu for anywhere from 500-800 depending on your set-up. and i was just saying your wrong becasue i knew, didnt say anything about money. i cant think of the name of the place. Carl H told me about it and gave me a website. cant find it now though.

blatz.biz offers real time OBD2 tunning and real time display for all nissian ECUs
