So I got my first 240sx (93 hatch) about 3 months ago. Had a craptastic engine, but I am currently building another KA to put in it. Anyways, the engine I have in it finally decided it was done (blown head gasket) and now the old girl is waiting for me to finish the other KA so she can get up and going again.

I just wanted to know what kind of mods and stuff I could do (with links to write ups if possible) while I had some downtime.

Things to note: There is no engine in her right now, so things that are easier to do with the engine out would be awesome. So far I have decided I am going to pull the interior and rewire the entire radio system (its currently an electrical nightmare with loads of unconnected wires) and then a battery relocate into the trunk with a dual battery setup (2 batteries daisy-chained together)... I just want to get as much done as I can, so I dont have much downtime when I get her back running. Thoughts and ideas?

If you strip out your whole interior, you should steam clean the carpet.
Also, if you're gonna pull the dash, you should wrap some stuff behind the dash with felt tape or foam to prevent rattling noises. I wish that did that when I swapped to a black interior.

I have thought about doing some interior work. It's a terrible brown color. I have heard bad things about trying to paint the interior plastics so what is a good alternative? And I never thought about wrapping stuff to get rid of rattle. Thanks for that idea!

What are you doing to the new used motor? Gaskets, studs, bolts, pumps and seals I hope

Rebuilding the engine to stock. New gaskets, seals, hoses, everything.

As for the black interior, I actually want to have blue interior, but I don't think they were made with one. My current interior is in great shape, aside from a cracked dash, but what stock 240 doesn't have that. I just need to know what the best way to get a blue interior would be.

If you are going to remote the battieries, I suggest 1/0 (one-aught) gauge "stinger" cable. You can get some from a welding supply place. The stinger cable is finely stranded so it will flex well and carry more current without as much loss.

How do your brake lines look? Now would be a good time to re-work any that look a bit rusty.

I'll def check the brake lines while I'm in there. 200k miles on her or so, so I'm pretty sure they will need some work. Thanks!
