Okay guys I got my block dropped off today at the machine shop and am ordering the last bit to finish up the bottom end. I was looking at the infamous ARP main studs, but I know that you have to grind the rear two studs which I think is a little crazy for a well known company's product to require this. My question is are the ARP's worth the money over oem and does anybody have a picture of this grinding process? I haven't been able to find an end result. Thanks.

Also does anybody have any complaints about Clevite bearings? I think that's the set I will end up ordering. Thanks.

I've used clevites before on L series motors and never had an issue with them.

As for the reason that ARP's studs need to have clearances ground into them is because ARP just gets a length to match the studs to as well as a thread pitch and diameter. Companies like that typically don't tailor one or two items to a specific motor. Case in point; my mahle pistons. Mahle is a great company, but they simply got the specs for the pistons and altered their piston power pack to match, not knowing that the SR has oil squirters.

AFAIK, nobody has had issues from grinding the studs down.

You have to grind the studs or you can modify the pan for the studs to fit down in. Thats what Mazworx does.
