I have a 95 SE w/ ST springs and AGXs and i'm planning on mounting some new tires on my 17x7 enkei RSEs. Plans for the car would be daily driver and occasional autox. I have considered many tires....but I'm just not too sure right now. My brothers AVS es100s were completely shot at 10k, i was thinking p7000s but i have heard about noise issues? The most I want to spend is about 120 a tire for 225/45/17. I'm open for suggestions. Chet, if you can give me some advice, or anyone else it'd be appreciated. I'd like the tires to last 15k miles as well. Thanks.-Will

he smoked his es100's at 10k? was his car alligned and everything? geeze. under 120? uhm....try a falken ZEIX 512, its good all-season, and should last about 25k or so if you maintain them properly.THe azenis would be a choice, but mileage is limited. you can also check into a dunlop fm901, its cheap and pretty decent dry grip.

Price is going to be the serious limiting factor.-chet

There's a special on them at the tire rack right now like $123 a tire or something. How quick are we talking here? 10kmiles? And i can only find the p7000 Supersport on the tirerack and was looking for the regular p7000.

edit: I have been looking a lot more........I have looked at some falkens how are the GR Beta FK-451?

i run the HTR Z II on my race car when i take it on extended bridgerunning sessions.

I love that tire. hardlyany noise, sticks like snot, and breaks progressivly when it does.

on your "race car"? you run a htrZ-2? you must like crappy tires man.....those things suck compared to a s-03, Pzero or Mxx3, ESSPECIALLY on a race car.

I got 10k on my Pzeros right now, they're at 5/32" or about 60% worn, I might get 15k out of them. the GRB-451 is a good tire, but also wears quick.

honestly, stay away from the Pzero unless you dont have ANY nasty weather, its not "slush-friendly"...but neither are light RWD cars....

I went to a head-to-head coparison aka, "ride and drive" with bridgesteon S-03, Pzero rosso, Pilot sports, and a few other tires(kumho, HTRZ-2, etc) all on BMW 328is cars, and nothing came close to holding up and gripping under abuse than those first three tires, all the others either blistered(too soft), or didnt stick(too hard), or had odd problems...

it was sponosred by brdigestone at AMS(atlanta motor speedway) 2 days ago, and I may go back today at 4pm, to test for the fastest lap time.

one note:Dry grip the S-03 seemed best, but after closer examination, it got sticky(operating temp) quicker than the Pzero...the Pzero didnt wear(blister) as bad, but didnt quite provide the immediate grip of the s03....

EDIT: also, just recalled that the dunlop sp9000's center tread blistered like hell(its kinda small) and after heating up kind of felt "greasy"....thats jasons(one of my co-workers) words, not mine.

ahhhnyways, hope all that helps.-chet

yes, on my race car, that has about 450-500 horsepower at the crank, and almost 600 torque.

those tires hook the best, and give the least noise, from abotu a 50-60 mph roll.

see, you wouldn't know about this stuff called power, you're part of the slow cars can't accelerate club and what not.

my race car is my street car that accelerates very fast. not necessarily from a stop, but from a roll. we kind of have a wangan thing going out here in the south east, but not quite. we have a 9 mile long bridge. high speed races from 50-150 are commonplace. those tires feel the bestand hook the best at high speeds.

i have used T1-savs sport (great but doesnt last)nitto 555 (joke)i like the bf goodright kdw those things ****ing rock the mic

but yeah htrz ii's are awesome for high speed street perforamnce stuffs.

and yes, chet knows his stuffs, but not when the car has over 160 horsepower ;-)

yeah, but you still havent used any of the tires I mentioned, any of which would blow your mind :)

the thing is, you love the tires (AVS and KDW) that are proven performers....either of those suite a high HP car much better than the sumi. But, if thats what you like....keep using them.

Hah, 190hp my azz. You aren't even CLOSE to that. Plugs and wires add ZERO horsepower, I/H/E may add 15 or so, a fuel pump adds nothing and neither does a filter, and a KA24E that old usually dynos at around 120 wheel hp if you are lucky. You definetly need to read more, and you drive an auto to boot. Get you and your idiot numbers out of here. God I hate idiot newbies........
