I just got my front brakes changed and it seems I need 4 new tires. I have the Avon Tech M550 A/S. I like them however I was wondering what you all use and recommend. I have these rimshttp://www.tirerack.com/wheels...d+Lip

The Avon M550 is a nice tire.

If you want to stay at that exceptionally low price level, then you might consider trying their Avon Tech M500. This is similar in price, wears a bit faster, and is quite a bit stickier and better performing than the M550. Just don't use it in snow ...

My highly-recommended tire (although much more expensive than the Avons) is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Other excellent possibilities (but much more expensive) is the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (note, this is the "PS2", not the other "Pilot Sport" or the "Pilot Sport A/S"). These should not be used in snow either ... get yourself a set of cheap wheels and put on good snow tires in Winter if you are where snow is. Don't think that A/S tires work well in snow - they don't. And, RWD cars are safest with snow tires in snow conditions - for sure!

how are those toyo proxes holding up? Just looked at my rear tires yesterday with 14,000 miles and almost *hit myself. This weekend looks like rear tires for me. as for the proxes I also saw the Michelin pilot sport A/S and they also looked like a very decent tire. 100 more a tire compared to the toyos though.

Mine are still good...hopefully they'll last longer than 14k! (burnouts anyone?) I think I'm gonna lay down the bucks and get the goodyear F1's next.

Weside, you need the MREV2!!! How do you like the hotchkis stuff? Any different?

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. Got these after trading in BFG KWDs. The BFGs sounded like offroad truck tires. Dunlops are quiet and have a stiffer sidewall. My local dealer said they put 35psi in all of their cars with 18" wheels, and that made a big difference for the responsiveness of these tires.

Joe, The Hotchkis front and rear sways are similar to any other adjustible. I did notice a huge improvement with these throughout the entire handling catagory. Front can be adjusted to i think like 65% stiffer maxed and the rear can be 150% more than stock at max. Huge difference with those and the upper strut bars. The M-rev 2 is just biting at the bit for me right now. I want it so bad. It does sound like there are some impressive gains with it. But that will have to wait. I just today installed a set of Michelin SP2's on the rear and also recieved the HKS twin power DLI 2 ignition amplifier in the mail today. I will keep everyone posted in this $400 plus ignition componet. Install will be this weekend. Enjoy fellas.

...you could have had the MREV2 for that. Any reason why you want the ignition component? I was under the impression that it useless without FI...

believe it or not, I find the best tire for price and tread life is Nitto 555. This is my third car riding on them, and wont use anything else.

I put Dunlop Dirrezza DZ101's on the Staggered fitting in December 2006. My rears are bald and the front have about 15% left.

I liked them. they hooked up well, slid out when I wanted them to, great in the rain and were quiet for the first 15K then they became a little loud.

They handle very well.there was a bit of flex in the sidewall under extreme load but I never felt unsafe with them. I would buy them again if I could but the new rims I am buying don't have a Dunlop DZ101 size.

Good tire for the price. Discount Tire was pretty cheap. It really depends on what rims you have also. If you don't hav ethe Brembo package then you can get cheaper tires.

Those are the SAME EXACT wheels I am sitting on with my G! Well, from the pic in the link those were straight ASA's mine are ASA BBS, but they are the same thing. I am riding on Michelin Pilot HX MXM4's. I like them, great traction but they came with the car when I bought it and were new so I don't know how they will wear. I have been looking at the new Azenis RT-615's or a pair of Toyo Proxes or Falken's as replacements though. Anyone had experience with these that can offer some advice?

Yeah, same, well, yours don't look like they have that polished chrome look like mine, and I wish I had the charger for my digital camera but heres a link to some pics I posted in the members rides section of mine. zer...age=5

It's towards the bottom. I think I posted pics twice on that page so look for the second set.
