I just bought a 90 Nissan 240sx and the rear tires are bald. Should I replace all 4? I think I might do that. But I'm not sure what kind of tires and size. The stock says 195/60/15. Would a 205/50/15 or 205/55/15 fit? I was thinking of the Falken Azenis but not sure if those sizes would fit the stock wheel. Thank you!

205/55-15 would be an excellent choice and a good fit. Replace all four, if the funds allow.

Did you check out Falken's website?? Do any of your friends use the Azenis? Most guys on here will highly recommend them, for dry conditions.

I'm hoping Chet doesn't see this thread because he would demand that you SEARCH (using the link at top right of page) for your answer and then lock your thread. (and he'd be right)This question is asked about once a week, so be sure to browse some of the older threads, on previous pages. There's lots of fitment Q & A threads. Also, Chet has taken a great deal of time to put together some excellent information stickies. Read and be rewarded with the gift of knowledge.

Welcome to NICO!! where are you located? since you are now a member, be sure to take some pics of your '90 240sx and post them in the member's rides section. The link for member's rides can be found below, in my signature.

I suggest 205/50/15 Falken Azenis on all 4 corners

Just FYI, Me and Chet (Exar Kun) work for NTB (National Tire and Battery)

Phil (SmithSR) works at Les Schwab, but I call it LeTire

keep the 205-55-15, its closer to stock and is MAST approved for the load index. but falken may not make a azenis in the 205-55... check falkens website and see if a 6" rim will hold a 215-50-15....that should work fine..you mayt have to check out toher tires than the falken...if its a daily driver,t he falken azenis wont give you good water traction or longetivity..

you may want to consider the ES-100 is the 205-55-15 or a Zeix 512 for a more all-season alternative.

Me and Chet did some homework.

The Falken Azenis are only offered in the 205/50/15 size, I say they will work fine, he disagrees :rolleyes :D

As for the ES100's ... good tires, but they don't offer the same amount of grip as the Azenis. They will be better in the rain and will also last slightly longer. The sidewall is much softer in the ES100 so it will ride smoother as well. I'd suggest it to you as well.

Long story short... buy the ES100s :)

Have anyone heard of the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716? I found them on Http://www.tirerack.com for $37.00 a piece and they were giving 8 out of 10 on dry to wet condition and even snow. But the size is 195/60/15 which is stock. I also found that they have 205/60/15. Will that size be the one I should get? The treadlife is long on it also. Is it worth getting? I won't be racing much or anything just need some good lasting tires and stick to all condition. hehe.. I'm cheap. Thanks!! And also thank you for welcoming me to the board! I need respond soon.. Thank you!

I dont like kumhos. Maybe I'll start seeing more and more good examples of those tires, but as they are its a CHEAP tire. Its similar to many 'house' brands IMO, it'll get you by until you can get a better tire.-chet(have you looked into yokohamas new advid v/h4s?)

That's a touring all-season tire. Not nearly as sticky as the Yokohama ES100. Sure, they are more comfortable and wear longer, but they are not even close when it comes to handling. It just depends on what you are looking for in a tire. I would look at the Dunlop Sport A2 or the Yokohama Avid line if you want a good all-season for this type of car. As far as the rating charts go, the numbers you are looking at are customer surveys not test results where they are looking at one tire vs. another. The surveys can be helpful to some extent but it's important to remember, these are very subjective. Also, an 8 dry traction for a touring tire is not going to equate to an 8 in a Summer Ultra-high-performance tire. If you need a long wearing tire that will work in snow, the Kumho is a nice tire for the money. The Dunlops and Yokohamas offer a lot better balance of handling and traction in my opinion (and I test tires as part of my job).

Thanks.. Should I get stock size tires 195/60/15 or go ahead and get 205/55/15 or 205/50/15? Or is it 205/60/15? I'm not sure what size to get. I almost got a the stock size 195/60/15 cause I just need some good cheap tires. Please get back to me on this cause I plan on getting the tires today. THank you

I used 205-55-15 V-rated tires for a while and they work great, and are listen in the MAST guide as an appropriate "plus zero" fitment for the car.
