My car uses a 235/45/R18 tire size. I understand this is what is termed low profile tire. I have bursted several of these tire sizes, due to potholes on some of the roads over here in Nigeria, as commute across the country.
Is it possible to get another different tire size, that would at least help some bit, without experiencing similar issues?

The factory set is 245/45/18 I believe. The middle number represents the sidewall as being 45% of the '245' size. Right now you have 45% of only 235.
You can use this website to mix n match tire sizes for your car. In the top row, enter: 245/45/18 and then use the right column to see what changes it makes for wheel fitment, speed accuracy, etc.

A larger second number means a taller sidewall and would be more of a "standard" tire. You could look for something around 225/60, that would give you an extra inch of sidewall. Or you could buy new rims that are 16" instead of 18", and go with something around a 75 sidewall instead

I prefer 225/60 than replacing a rim

225/60R18 is INCORRECT tire size for that vehicle.
It will have incorrect speedometer and odometer reading by 7.3%.
You can use 255/45R18 or 265/45R18 to give you an extra side wall but the new tire size needs to stay within 3% of difference.

Your suggestion would give his new tires only 10mm extra diameter, which meant 5mm more distance from the ground to the rim. DXTA is not going to get the results he is looking for with a sidewall close to what he has now, that was the entire point of this thread. He wants a taller tire for the roads in his country. You also cant arbitrarily post to get a tire much wider (over an inch!) than what he has on the car now, you have no idea if his rims will fit a wider tire like that. Sticking +/- 10mm from his current size will ensure the new tire can fit on whatever rims he is using on the vehicle. Also sticking to more common sizes where a lot of models are made gives a higher likelihood that he can find a tire like that in his country.

Yes because vehicles only have certain amount of tolerance.
You can't just add another 2 inches OD on a vehicle and expect it fits.
No professional would suggest to have more than 3% difference than original size otherwise you are throwing off the reading on the speedometer and odometer.
Also assuming he's running on stock rims 18X8.5 he CAN fit 255 and 265 at the rear.
While i am suggesting him to add 10mm on his tires you are suggesting him to decrease 20mm on the tires.
