wassup fellas again . thanks to NICOclub and inputs from other forums , i went ahead and just purchased a set of wheels that I have been trying to research and see if it fits . I've always liked WORKS and wanted to get VSXX or Meisters S13P for my SUbaru but it wouldnt look as nice as they would on 240s .

so I got a chance to get some WORK wheels and I was planning to get some WORK Equips but fell in love with the VS-XX .

the size i went with is Work VS-XX18x10 J+0 and 18x12 +13

and i plan to run 30mm fenders on the front and either 30mm or 50mm over fenders on the rear depending which would fit better .

here are the pics of the wheels , i should be getting them in about a week .

and they will be going on this car

and now I need some input and opinions on another question ...

what size tires should I run ?

the car is making a little over 300 whp at the moment but I would like to get close to like 380whp .

I do plan to use the car to drift . ( try to learn ) so not sure if that matters on tire selection and might go with either Bridgestones or Dunlops .

so I need your input fellas about what size tires and which model Bridgestones or Dunlops ? I think with Dunlops , I would be going with Direzzas ?

thanks

Hmmmm.

Well, you're not gonna be drifting on those, that's for sure, so it doesn't matter too much.

I'd buy some drift wheels and put street tires on those.

As far as tire size for the VS wheels, you need to look at OEM O.D. and see what tire sizes correspond.

I'm guessing it's gonna have "MDM stretch" (bleh), so make sure you have a tire shop that won't wreck the new wheels putting the wrong size tires on.

That was funny.

Sadly it is also true.

damn , so maybe i was misinformed . that was one of my decision makers if i was going to be able to drift or not .

i thought with an 18X12 , that it would make it kinda hard to drift or spin , ( not sure of the exact term )

so I asked around and i was told that if you can make close to 400whp , that it wouldnt be a problem to drift with them .

but if its a big deal , i would get some 18x9 and 18x10 .

but I would still need tires for these wheels since i bought them already . so input on that would be cool .

thanks

No idea what size tires to put on huge wheels, but I'm digging the paint scheme on the S14.

You can drift with those but most wouldn't as they will get beatten up by rocks/road/bank/wall/barrier.

NJ roads suck I personally wouldn't run too stretched,, maybe 255/35 and 285/30.

On the 10's go with a 265 and the 12's go with 295's. But then I'm not the most savvy at tire sizes. I say do some research first, another forum that starts with Z and ends with ilvia has a wheel fitment thread, that you can check out. Though you got some pretty crazy sizes just so you know.

You're adding 2" to the O.D. of the tire, and a metric sh*t-ton of weight.

The only "drifting" you'll do is straight into the back of a truck when your brakes fail to stop those behemoths at the most inopportune moment.

And as much as yokota and I differ on what's a "good" fitment, he's right on iwith his post.

Find a GOOD tire shop to mount those, and take out a loan for tires - you'll need new ones every 6 months.

thanks guys with all the inputs and comments . i'm really feeling it . and taking alot of it into consideration .

hannibal - thanks man ... its very budget ! either i will try to perfect it or repaint it a different color . depending on many things .

KFL - thanks man , i will try to learn and practice in an open lot with cones and hopefully not damage anything but will try to upgrade on brakes since someone mentioned it . safety is always first

chitownguy - thanks for the input , yea Ive been hitting all the other forums to get as much inputs as I can . hopefully i make the right decision .

yokota180sx - i think i might go with the 40 series tires to keep the profile as low as possible to give more clearence . but do you think with that number you gave me with the dimensions of the wheels that I will have to modify the wheel wells , seams and harness ?

azhitman - i will try to research some local forums to see where people is going to get stretched tires mounted . every 6 monthes is not that bad but i will try to squeeze a year . but if its every 6 monthes , i can live with that . i will try to weigh the wheels and compare to stocks and see whats the difference . brakes are expensive but I have learned from past experience that it is very important and hopefully i can get some new ones on the car .

thanks everyone for your inputs and i hope i can get more .

unless your running 4x4 height yesthis is 17x18 at low as ****in order to run that low i had to bang in all the seams, heat up the front of the fenderwell, bang that in, relocate the harness, bang in the rear of the wheel well, and hop ei didnt rub

then when i put the 18s on iti kept the same height, but i had to go lower to retain the same height, so i found MORE spots that were rubbing/hitting

its a long proces to completely eliminate rubbing at a low height with big wheels, its not for everyone.

I'm curious as to what the wheel arch-to-ground measurement was on that S13.

Yoko, I think you need to write a tutorial on all that banging / adjusting.

Yea but those sizes are if he doesnt want stretch and I didnt even do any calculations I just threw numbers out there. 235 and 255 is what i would do, though I'm doing 225 on a 10' cause im crazy.

You've clearly been misinformed.

In fact, if they can prove such nonsense, I'll pay for a year of their hosting.

Remember, 240sx.org was around LONG before they were (started in 1997), and existed as a mailing list long before that (5 years).

Never mind. I'll write it up, I still have pics of all my fender mods as well as a complete rewiring of my front end (no fuse boxes / wiring under my hood).
