Ill be completely honest, up until last night when I got in the shower I havent really concerned myself too much with tire pressure. I know its imporant and can have a major effect on things, ive just never messed with it.....

Right now I run 40 all around..... However I feel thats a little too much, i think id rather run like 35 front and 33 rear or something like that.....

What do you guys run?

Whatever the Firestone guy inflates it to. I think they do about 35 on all four.

With my current set up

39-40 psi front

35-36 psi rear

I check mine about once a month, sometimes more if the weather (temp) changes.

Front is a bit rough, but Wes' know why I'm doing that .

I would recommend sticking to about 36 psi all around on a Q or an M - also do tire rotations every 3750 miles to even out the wear.

This is the pressure used for load index measurements in the older 44psi max tires. As yet, the standards for the newer 51psi max tires has not yet been set (as far as I know.)

The other reason I like 36 psi is that it allows for a bit of variation (drops during month, colder weather, etc.) without becoming too low. I check tire pressure about every 3 to 4 weeks or so and it tends to drop by about 1 or 2 psi at that time. So, starting a bit high means that it doesn't drop too low if I am a bit late checking.

I run about 5 psi below max recommended. IIRC, I have 45 front and 40 rear right now. With lower profile tires, it's important to keep pressure up.

Very true. Also very true when running tires with lower than recommended load ratings. Boosting the tire pressure helps these tires carry the weight of the Q.

I AM NOT recommending to anyone to buy under rated tires, but some of us find great deals on tire/wheel combinations and want to get some mileage out of the tires before we swap them out.

Hey Wes, I checked my mountain bike, and I have 18 PSI in the front and 16 PSI in the rear. I think they are a little low, but the cold weather has affected them a bit.

Yokohama 376 Recommended 35 p.s.i.

So I run 35 in all except the LF which gets 34.5 so I don't have to fight the road crown. Check it before I drive it so I know where it's at all the time, since I haven't been driving it much the last year.

Tend to run 35 psi rear, 38 psi front or 40 all around when going cross country or loaded.

51 max psi on both sets of tires, I think.

Yes, but that is not what Brian (maxnix) actually runs at, for sure! Just mentioning the max for the tires he is using.

Brian and I have had discussions about tire load index and stuff in the past - he knows what he is doing. He said that he has 35 rear, 38 front normally and just increases to 40 on occasion (like on long-distance trips.)

Aww... Did wes have a little performance issue tonight

Seriously though, tirerack recommends this formula

Weight of the vehicle(4200) divided by 100(42) plus 2 that gives you 44psi.

Question: Why do ya'll pressurize your tires backwards? For better handling wouldn't you want lower pressure in the front, not the back?

Higher pressure front, stiffens sidewall, reducing front tire "roll" during handling. And the higher pressure front gives a better feel in the sterring wheel, though sometimes a bit harsh.
