What timing gun do you guys use?

Ok so i got an inductive timing light for christmas and i tried using it to day and well hooking it to the wire that the fsm tells me to it dosent work or maybe im doing somthig wrong,but my question is if i get an old spark plug wire and run it from the spark plug and attach the other end to the coil pack then connect the timing gun to the wire will it work then or do i need a diffrent gun.thanks guys

You're probably not hooking it up right then.

I dont remember on the RB20's but on the RB25 S1, its a Pink/Black striped wire or backwards, cant remember off the top of my head. but it comes out of the ignitor chip. Hook the timing light pick up around that and make sure the loop on the pickup is completely closed otherwise it wont pick up the signal, run the positive to the 12v power source and the ground to the chassis somewhere or the NEG- Post on the battery if you have it there.

Yes it will work by making a spark plug wire, But you hook it between the coil and the spark plug! I made one myself and it works perfect. No need to finding coil wires. If your down this way anytime soon give me a call Ill show you everything you need and how to do it.

Find a loop coming out of the coil pack wiring. Clip it through there and it should work. Worked flawlessly for me.

yeah... hrmmm about that big white wire where and for what rb engine 20, 25, 26 what?! need to know.
