That's a pretty harsh and juvenile thing to say. Do you really think that's any way to get people to send cash? Trying to guilt them into it? It makes you look pathetic, desperate, and rude.
What goes around SHOULD come around, and those that Sophan helped should be wiling to help him. But you can't hold someone's kindness and good deeds over the recipients head. It tends to taint the good nature of the favor.
Hey Maine and Fiznat, neither of you guys know the FIRST THING about the situation here so you're both unqualified to even attempt to criticize me. So before you start shooting someone down about some comments you deem to harsh, take a look at the facts first.
These three 'gentleman' are guys I referred to the boards. I just got my suspension converted by Sop for dirt cheap. In all, he only charged me $200 for a job that takes well over 9 hours. He was kind enough to lend me a car for an entire day while my Q was getting worked on.
Mike, Ben and Trent are New England Q owners too who approached me about the active suspension conversions. Keep in mind here a complete active suspension kit costs maybe more than a grand from Scottsdale. He charged these guys each $1,200 initially but ended up reimbursting these guys the amounts of $200 a piece, meaning he did the work FOR NOTHING. These guys took advantage of that. Constantly abusing the kindness of another to help keep there cars in running order. These guys exploited the fact that Sop is willing to lend a helping hand.
I can recall many a time when they would just show up at his door needing **** done on their cars and he wouldn't charge them a dime for it. I told him about these suspicious characters because i knew them better and that he was being too nice.
So when all this stuff went down, I called these guys up and laid down his whole ordeal, all they had to offer was "that's too bad, I hope things work out." This ISN'T what I expect from people he considered friends. I don't care if I guilt trip them til they're blue, the least they could've done was show him some sympathy. You're rolling around in your Q with bling bling rims and a sound system, rocking a philip patekke watch and you don't even bother with someone who's cut his teeth for you?! These sharks are the kind of people who make friends only if they serve them some purpose. Sop's a good kid, ask the people around here he's dealt with. He's cut people killer deals and I'm willing to bet he's gone the extra mile in his dealings. Why these three schmucks couldn't even offer some condolenses is beyond me.
I can air out my personal laundry because these guys asked for it. So please withhold the lecturing until you take a look at the bigger picture and digest the details.

Well, all I can say on this matter is there are SEVERAL people (myself included) who would think nothing of investing time, money and effort to help out a fellow NICO member.
If I counted all the $$$ and time I've saved my friends here, and added on an hourly wage for the work invested in NICO to keep it clicking along, I'm sure it'd be a substantial sum.
The bottom line is, Maine's right. I consider Soph a wonderful person, and a good friend with a HUGE heart.
But just like you said above, Aztek, you can't hack on people without knowing THEIR circumstances. It works both ways.
p.s. I wonder how many people out there misjudge me to be a wealthy man based upon my car and my mannerisms - If they only knew that I spent half the cost of a new Civic on my car, I'm currently *looking* for a job, and I live in a modest house and provide for 3 kids and a wife, they might be very surprised.

I have read what you typed about the "situation", and that pretty much sucks for Soph. From everything I've heard and all the communication I've had with him here at NICO, I can tell that he is a first rate individual. If I was in a financial situation that would allow me to contribute to helping him, I surely would.

There are much more productive means to get your point across. Using your tactics makes you look like the bad guy. But, if you're comfortable with that... then so be it.

If I come off looking like a bad guy, I'm very comfortable with that.
The nature of the post wasn't meant to be sinister. I wanted to point out how the above three are a bunch of deadbeats. For example in Mike's case, if you tell me you ain't got 20 bucks to spare a brotha and then the next week you go out and drop 3k on a new set of rims or like Ben blow a cool grand on a system or like Trent braggin' about how you burned half your weeks salary on a night on the town, then you're really ****ed up and not worth me wasting my time knowing (hear that, stooges?)
This post wasn't meant to antagonize the rest of the members here, most of you folks don't know Sop on a personal, day-to-day basis so it doesn't make sense for you to send a stranger cash. If you don't live in Boston and don't see him on a regular basis, then you don't really know him so ignore those posts.
