so i went to get my exhaust fixed today...i put a whole new exhaust system on except for the cat...and i put on a new intake manifold gasket....i put on a new distributor cap....and new spark plugs...but as i was leaving my car started to shake or tremor a bit around 55mph...so i am like what the hell....then it was getting to the point where i was not even accellerating....i would hit the gas and it would not accelerate so i would hit it harder then it would like kick in and i would fly then it would kick off again...and when i would sit at stoplights it would all but die in "drive" ...like it would dip very low in rpm's and the dash lights would dim....so i would have to puch it into nuetral and rev it.....then i got it back to my mechanic and he said that his guy may have messed up the O2 sensor when he replaced the intake manifold gasket.....i guess u have to take out the O2 sensor or somethgin to replace the gasket....so i left it with him and he said he would check it out in the morning..but do you guys have any ideas as to what it could be?ThanksJc

go to the faq to se how to check the ecu for engine codes. Prob a vacuum leak or check the rubber hose going to the egr. Mine was cracked causing the stalling.

yes you should haul it to a local autozone or something because they check ecu codes for free!

Hey My brother had the exact same problem with his cavalier and what he had was bad gas, meaning he had water in it. Go ahead and try a water remover quickly or it could do more damage. It appears that this only happens to smaller cars with smaller engines because my truck got bad gas and it was fine except for a few sputters.

But go ahead and try a water remover from discount or autozone and then add some fuel injector cleaner to it to flush it a little. The last thing I can say to help solve the problem is to put super in the tank once to get rid of anything bad in the system.
