Actually my topic title was more tamed until I had to retype because of a dead battery. My bad. What I really meant is....What in Tarnation is going on. ( which is actually worse...lol) It should be fine since they allow the anime huh?

Anyways, My laptop just died and YES I am retyping everything. I really HATE that. Ok where was I..The freaking forum. First I had to delete my Avant browser because it kept crashing whenever I entered the site.

Then whenever I posted in the forum, it would hang but in reality it would really post in the background.

Now I'm getting a HTML Parsing Error where the webpage is not working correctly therefore its not loading.

I'm starting to realize my Laptop Pentium-M IV 2.0 ghz is not up to par for the site. So it also means my Win XP with Internet Explorer 8 is also not compatible with the site.

I mean...come on!!!! Mr. webmaster.....throw us a freaking bone will ya???

I understand last week that the site would move to a new server and we suppose to have some benefits and new treats. Oh yah, faster loading times.

But I think you should keep some of the old features so you won't be shutting some members out. That's how I kinda felt until I realize the technology on the site is moving wayyyyyyy faster than my equipment.

I am presently typing on a Core2Quad Laptop. You probably would need a I7 laptop just to stay in here soon.

All I am asking...Mr. Webmaster is to let your admins or whover to give us the lowdown on what is going on instead of us pulling our hair out on why the site is not working.

I have no life as it is. This Rogue forum is the only purpose I have in my life. Me being here is like being in line trying to get an i-pad. But then I find out the wi-fi dont work, at least APPLE tries to fix it and admits issues. And I really don't need this aggravation.

All I am asking is to ...Just let us members know if we should expect computer or software compatibility issues. Its okay if you need to expand and add more commerical stuff, I'm okay with progress. I know its a new server and a few kinks need to be worked out. But at least tell us some of our computers will just be a paperweight when entering the new and so-called improved site.

Thanks This not me, but how I feel.

Whoa whoa whoa, brother!

First off, the issues you described are likely a combination of 2 things:

1) That oldass laptop2) Our miserable hosting service

Here's the good news. Just because we're upgrading (which is slated to go "live" this weekend), it doesn't mean you'll be left behind. In FACT, your pageload times will be decreased and you should experience GREATER functionality from the forums.

Upgrades to the site do NOT "shut out" people with older equipment. We have people on here with P2's with a dial-up connection. Site looks and works the same for them as it does for me.

So, take a deep breath, clean out your internet cache, maybe run some Spybot and Malwarebytes to clean up any residual crap, and prepare for a simpler, faster, easier NICO browsing experience.

Thanks for being on board!

Hi Casperfun,

AZHitman is right. Just take a deep breath and be patient. We are well aware of the issues with the forum right now and we're working hard to improve the experience for everyone.

Thanks for being part of the NICOClub forums!

I know my Toshiba Laptop is old but it has these great Harmon Kardon speakers that would blow away the sound of today's laptops. It cost around $2600 back in the day. Moreover, the Pentium 4-m 2.0 ghz should be enough for regular web surfing. It has more power than the centrinos and definitely more power than the atom on those netbooks.

Don't get me started on bloatware. I tweaked the hell out of the Toshiba to get the best performance. Yes, I was the type to visit TweakXP and use to tweak the data packets back when I used 56k. I know about unistalling extra crap and disabling services at administrative tools, and junk at startup, defrag, cleanup, etc.

Also use Sybot & spywareblaster, online scanners.

As earlier stated, it was mentioned that PII's on a dial up connection still work. Now that brings me back to the day of my Packard Bell with my window 98 upgrade from win 95. If those work and they are like 15 yr old technology with dial up no less ......then my 2002 Toshiba laptop on the Fios network should too. Well anyways, here is the error that is occuring if the website engineers or dept. can do anything.

I still like the Toshiba and would like to use it still. But time marches on and this includes technology. What sucks was after buying my Quadcore laptop, 31 days later the I7 laptop came out.

Don't know what to say... MS Windows does some weird stuff sometimes.

I don't get the errors you are mentioning. Just the slow load time after making new posts.

Old Compaq laptop (2001 or 2002) here, Pentium 4, 1.8Ghz. RAM of 1 Gb (cannot do more, that is the only hardware change done on it), Window XP Pro SP3 and Firefox 3.6.3.

Everything is working fine , even on this forum (about 6-8 internet tabs at the same time) with always Outlook open and usually word and/or excel open too. Sometimes, new page from a reply takes some time to load, but I just go on another page until it is done, that is all, but that is the same with other internet pages/forums (maybe a little bit slower here, don't know).

Did you clean your computer regularly (I am talking hardware here)? Few months ago, mine was crashing every time I wanted to watch a video, was ready to get rid of it (8 years old laptop), but decided to open it to look into it: There was a layer of dust blocking the fans putting out heat from the CPU. Cleaned it, restarted it and everything is fine now. For sure, the computer runs quite hot and takes some time to load/open a new program, but it is still working for now (use it at work).

I don't think the problem is only from the forum (yes, it is slower than other but should soon be better/faster), but can come from: an old computer, a slow connection (even if it is a high speed one, it is not always that fast), etc...

Assume you mean Pentium 4-M...

Internet Explorer is still one of the worst browsers out there. Switch to Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Chrome seems to be better at handling the more demanding flash content in my experience, but it draws more power on battery than Firefox.

Okay, did fix your formatting. The P4-M does indeed have enough power for web surfing. I'm confident you have something going on in your OS install causing your issues. Check for any rogue processes eating up an exorbitant amount of the CPU. Switch to a different browser, reformat your OS. (In the few years I've been doing IT professionally, and the many years doing it as a hobby, I find nothing beats a clean OS install every now and then.)Also, the P4-M is a boat. The 1.66 GHz Atoms would actually match it in most tasks. And then first generation Centrinos would do quite a bit better, and the Centrino Duos would wipe the floor with it.

Actually, the i7 was announced about a year before it came out. That's why I extensively look at the Intel, AMD, ATI, and Nvidia roadmaps before purchasing a new laptop. I want to buy an i7 laptop this summer, but I already know that there will be significantly better i7's come February 2011.

Why not just get a Mac? After 20 years with PCs and Windows, I've been enjoying my 15" MacBook Pro for the last year. I have not had to worry about viruses, fighting with registry problems, defrag, wonder why a deleted program is not truly deleted... I just turn it on and enjoy the Mac experience. I have Windows 7 installed on Boot Camp and Parallels but hardly ever use it.

Ok, ok... back on topic. Great forum, not issues for me, personally.

Lol, well I went with a Sony Vaio, because the cheapest Macbook was $999(from best buy), and I paid the same for my fully loaded Vaio. 17" 1080p screen, bluray player(I don't own dvds so a dvd player=dirt to me), windows vista(might upgrade to 7), intel centrino, 300 GB HD space, and its nearly 2 years old and I've never had any problems. And I honestly can't stand Apple since I had problems with my ipod and even though it was under warranty they REFUSED to do anything about it. However they did offer a new ipod for 1/2 off. And we've had 2 Toshibas and both were crap. 1st one got the blue screen of death not 2 weeks after the warranty was up, and the second one stopped working before my mom had it for even a week. Geek Squad tried to fix it but they couldn't figure out the problem so we replaced it(free of cost) with an HP, which a year later is still working great. I would have gotten a fully loaded desktop, but I don't have room for a desk and honestly the Vaio does everything I would expect a desktop to do. It gets a little warm on occasion, but from what I can tell Sony's are built to withstand the heat.My PS3 gets piping hot but I never have problems. Lol I love the video of the guys to smash a wii and a x360 to pieces with a sledgehammer but were only able to slightly damage the ps3. My uncle threw my cousins across the room and broke a piece of the casing off and it still works perfect. Wow...I'm bored and tired and rambling...lol guess I'll go now.
