i'm on the freeway. i get into the left most lane and i'm cruising at about80-90 mph. this compact dodge truck come up on my tail and he proceeds to flash me. and just sits there with high beams on , about 2 and a half inches off my bumper. i couldn't get over if i tried because there is a car to my right. wtf i'm doing 85 and thats to slow for you??? i'm not geting over i don't care if its the so-called fast lane. go arround beiotch. so i when he finaly get an opening to go arround, i nail it, i hold him off for a lil while but he starts gaining on me pretty quick but when i hit 110 his gain slows. then he gets next to me and my dang speed limmiter kicks in. i think he hit his to because he dosn't go in for the kill. then we both slow down and then i get over and let him go. man what was that about? i'm never going to look at another dodge dacota w/ magnum v8 the same way again!

You deserved it. Don't drive in the left lane when there are people trying to pass you. And then you tried to block him off from passing you? Burn your license.

My fault, I skipped over that part. But yeah, light trucks with V8's are decently quick compared to a stock 240.

I have a Dakota with a Magnum V-8. It isn't that quick stock, but they're pretty cheap to mod.

"decently quick"?....

Dude... the newer V8 Dodge Dakota will decimate a 240sx in almost every way imaginable. The 2wd version even handles reasonably well too. Horsepower to weight ratio is insanely better for the Dodge. And, don't even think about trying that crap against a 5.8 liter R/T Dakota. You'll just cry in your seat knowing for the first time what it truly feels like to be kicked squarely in the balls.

I know that feeling. I raced an R/T Dakota in my GSX before I got my boost controller and exhaust. Got him off the line, but he wasted me before I got through third gear. I tried to find him after I put the BC and exhaust on, but never saw him again, which is probably a good thing. If I would have lost after that, I would have prolly killed myself. LOL.

I used to do all the graphics for this one guys cars (trucks mainly) and he had an SS/T Ram 1500 with a Paxton SC. Is that a stock option? cuz that thing was damn quick. I dunno about faster than me but impressive nonetheless. Haven't driven any V8 Dakotas or know anything about 'em, any info/links?

yeah all i had to do was get over to save myself from being hummiliated. i'm just to stubourn and pridefull. i didn't expect so much speed from a truck. oh i just remembered: just to add insult to injury, he had a passenger. doooh!....

Thanks for the link, but at it's highest HP (250), the truck's not overly impressive in the power department, especially from a 5.2 liter. How much did those things weigh?

Edit: Did some more searching and it appaears that the 2004 models weigh about 4100 lbs. So 250hp in 4100lbs VS. 155 in 2600lbs? Both are in the mid 16lbs/hp range. Not that much of a mismatch I'd say. Although Truck Trend has a '98 Regular Cab R/T running a 15.4 which is ~half a second faster than a stock 240 with even a good driver I think. Not bad for a truck.

you know the fast lane is the passing lane.

you were breaking the law by not moving over for him. theres a reason for the 'slower traffic move right.'

i almost got a 5.9 R/T back in the day, but then i realized it was a dodge and would break down on me. still a badass truck though. i'd love to take our pathy against some of those bigass trucks that think they own the road. like last night, this black dodge turbo diesel pulls up next to my mom and i, in a turn lane mind you, and when thel ight turns green, he punches it and cuts my mom off. well, she was going to push it, but i know the pathy could have taken that a$$ and his redneck truck. ugh, truck guys piss me off!

A few months ago, Sport Compact Car had a nice little sign you could cut out and put in your window that said "slower traffic move right". As I recall, they also had a "get off the damn phone" sign.

Unfortunately, Dodge screwed up there. No hemi available in the Dakota. No room.

I know. I meant it in a funny dodge commercial kinda way. Cause you know, dodge truck owners believe they're invincible.

Hey! I love my dad's Ram. It's not invincible, but It'll kick a lot of ***, especially since it's an ex-HP police package. It's a '97, so it's a 5.9 wedge not a Hemi.

Me too (two of them actually), but our little Toyota 4-bangers can't really compare with the Dodge "muscle". BUT... we can actually take ours out in the woods and NOT come back BROKEN!

Toyota trucks > Dodge trucks

Getting your a$$ handed to you by A new SUBARU FORESTER. Go look it up - that damn thing is quick (and stealthy).
