I have a 90 240 hatch and I want to lower the car. Im having trouble on what suspension to get. I narrowed it down to two of them. Both are Teins. Its between the He and the SS. Which one of these is better. Is on better for drifting or for the streets or can you use them for more than what it says they are for. Any experience and opinions would be a lot of help. I also have 17" and an apexi N1 dual exhaust. Will i be scrapping/rubbing anywhere (like the rims or the exhaust)?

It all depends what you want to do with your car man. If you want your car to be a daily-driven car then stiffer suspension would be a bad idea. Personally i have a KYB-AGX with Eibach Prokit that works perfect since my car is daily-driven and drift car on weekend

but if you plan to drift then the tein he would be good,

i also have the agx but with ground control.the offset you your rims also matter. anything greater than 35 offset will not fit with the tein he.

are the he specifically for drifting or can you use them one the road too? Also with the ss, can you go drifting in them. are these relativly the same suspension or just have different purposes?

HE are Teins "Drift Spec" or "Winding Master" coilover. Just a gimmick really. Tein is a good low end coilover for the money.

Get it out of your head that you need a specific coilover for drifting. Same thought process makes people buy Coke cuz pretty people in commercials drink it. All you need to drift is front engine, real wheel drive, and balls.

I drift just fine on non adjustible Nismo coilovers.

you actually don't need anything to drift the tein he coilover just make it more stable and stiff for drifting.

i would recommend you learn on stock first cause that would give you a better feel and how your car would react. that's what im doing.

HE's are a great coilover. I have them on my car and for a few more weeks it's a daily driven car and has been for this summer. They can be a little rough on regular streets, unless they are fairly smooth. A road may look level to you, but trust me you'll feel any imperfections in the road if there are any, and trust me there almost always are. I have the HE's set on 8, so I can soften them, but thats no fun. I like getting jarred around.

go KTS/SPL Coilovers like me! HAHA sorry. random plug-in.

Tein HE's sound reasonable. I was seriously about to get those. I'm guessing your car would be daily driven. IIRC, the SS have 16 levels of dampening. You should definitely take into account Ride Height AND Ride Height Adjust Range and what you want out of your suspension. Use TEIN's Nissan chart to help you.

rousie13 do you have any problems with bottoming out and scrapping the exhaust. See i have Apexi N1 dual exhaust and i dont want to put more scrapes in it. This may seem stupid but do you all that have lowered suspension have problems getting over speed bumps?

for some reason i been reading all about wheel offsets and which rims will clear the suspension and i still dont understand it. I already have rims one my car which are 17"X 7" and have a 40 offset. Will these clear the tein suspension?

Go with this:KTS coilovers

Front coilovers feature 8kg/mm springs, adjustable shock length for height adjustment while maximizing stroke, inverted shock configuration with 40mm diameter piston, high pressure gas monotube construction, plated steel shock shell and aluminum upper adjustable camber plate. Shock is 15 way adjustable.

Rear coilovers feature 6kg/mm springs, adjustable shock length for height adjustment while maximizing stroke, 49mm diameter piston high pressure gas monotube construction, plated steel shock shell and aluminum upper mount. Shock is 15 way adjustable.

Shocks need servicing? Replace with all new shocks for $550. For the price of rebuilding other shocks (Tein, JIC, etc) you can simply swap in new shocks with no downtime and no shipping hassles.

KTS coilovers S13 $1040 Call

from my understanding the 40 offset does not clear tein he, you have to have 35 offset.

and offset is the measurement of how far the wheel will stick in.with 40 offset the rim probably does not pass the fender. but with 15 offset the rim sticks out of the fender, that makes the width wider.

The only time I ever had a problem bottoming out is coming out of my friends driveway and I scraped my front bumper. I don't have any problems bottoming the car out from bumps or anything. I just can't drive up big angles or drive over big speed bumps. We have a small one at work that I angle over and I just drive slow over it. My BRM also hangs long and I have had no problems with bottoming it out.

007jpang so what you are saying is that they will not fit. Is there any way i could get them to fit like a spacer? Would a 5 or 10mm spacer do the job? Is that just for the back or is it all the way around? Is there also a way i can get a flush look with these rims without buying a new set? Thanks in advance for all you guys help. I kinda new at all this!

i read some where in this forum or a tein catalog that i had saying that 40 offset will not clear/rub.

as for the spacer im not too sure, but you can ask ChunkiDoriabout this, you can find him in the drift forum.
