I am about to have an LS6 with mods to hit a solid 450-500HP put into my '95 S14. I have been searching and reading about suspension, but don't feel any closer to choosing something than when I started.

The car will be used for DD 95% of the time, but will be run in the 1/4 mile a few times, and will run autocross a few times. I know no suspension system is built to handle all of these well. What I would like is a setup that will tolerate the HP and torque when I do run it hard, yet not make me feel like I need spinal surgery from using the car as a DD. I would strongly lean toward the 1/4 mile as being more important from a race standpoint.

I was thinking of going with adjustable coilovers that I can change for each thing, but many people seem to say that coilovers aren't a great idea for a DD.

The budget for the suspension will have to be around $800, but I would love to also have a recommendation for a $1500 or so setup in case I can muster some sponsor money which may come through. My initial thoughts are the Tanabe Pro s-oc type II coilovers, but any other recommendations are welcome.Any and all help is appreciated. I hope I provided enough info. If not, let me know, and I will answer what I can. Thanks!

first off... coilovers are meant to adjust to what driving habit will most likely be taking place. Spring rates for drag racing are completely opposite than that of auto-x or drifting... and there ARE spring rates intended for daily use. So the saying, "coilovers aren't good for daily...." isn't true because you've just generalized coilovers to something stiff... when its only stiff if you choose it to be.

honestly, I'd just get a set of Stance 8/6 coilovers (they also come with a 9/7 spring set up) and be done with it.

If you want super comfort, look for a set of coilovers that either has a spring rate of 7/5 or softer like a 6/5 or something... but don't expect an aggressive reaction with them as well... I mean, you can't win them all.

So a drag setup is a softer setup in general?
