So, I have BC racing coilovers right now and I'm not a fan of the stiff ride with all that bounce.

I'm looking for a ride that is smooth for daily driving and doesn't scrape too much.

I was thinking either the tein basic coilovers or wait for their s.tech springs.

What are the pros and cons of each? are there other options?

talk to me.

Since you are not a fan of the stiff ride with all the bounce and want a smooth daily driving that doesn't scrape so much then I suggest getting stock springs. You will have a smooth ride that is much softer and you will be high enough to not scrape at all.

If not maybe go with s.tech springs but be warn that is not adjustable and you might have a stiff ride still and scrape as much.

Interesting, well putting aside the scrape, would the tein basics be a smoother ride than the BCs?

I know what a stiff ride is, but what do you mean by bounce? Is the rebound too quick/harsh? Or does the suspension compress, then rebound, then compress less, then rebound less, then compress a little less, then rebound a little less...?

If your BCs are set to their softest settings and still too rough, then the next thing I would try would be lower spring rates. If you've got they standard 6k fr / 8k rr (iirc), I would try 4k fr & 6k rr.

Alright, I looked more into it kinda, scraping doesnt really bother me, ill just go slower on speed bumps.

What do you guys think is better for daily driving? super streets or basics?

Seriously why would you go from BC coilover to Tein Coilover when you will get the same if not similar results. I had tein basics on another car before and the ride is pretty stiff. The super street is similar to that of the BC Racing, so you will most likely get the same result.

Scraping can't be avoided if you want to lower your car very low. Even if you go very slow on some dips and speed bump you will still scrape at some point. Plus you should be going slow and at an angle anyways.

If you want to keep that smooth ride similar to stock your best bet is to go with Eibach springs. Eibach you will get a smoother ride but will kill your shocks much faster but to me Eibach drop is still to high for me. As mention before try changing your dampening setting to the softest it can be and see how it rides and raise the car up a bit. Or you can get Eibach springs and bigger tires to go on the wheels.

I want to get rid of my BC racing coilovers because I keep hearing noises whenever I turn left or right. I know I am not the only one that this was a problem for.

I have had the coilovers reinstalled 3 times and eventually the same problem comes about. I am just looking for reliable coilovers with no noises that are also smoother for daily driving.

the reason the BC's feel stiffer is because of the short shock stroke... it also depends on what spring rate you went with... you should send the bc's back and let them warranty it because my BC's don't make any noises... the TEIN's will ride smoother because their shock stroke is longer and the valving is better... as for the scraping you may scrape more because the teins allow for more flex resulting in a more comfortable ride... the bc's may feel bouncy because they're trying to rebound quickly with that shorter stroke... the teins ride closest to stock and the basic's are like super streets on a medium setting... the bc's offer a more aggressive ride and a more exaggerated feel of the road due to those pillow ball upper mounts which is bare metal meshed to the strut & shock towers of the car.

Alright, coming from eibachs, these tein basics are a real delight. stiff yet not bumpy in a bad way. no more slowing down and coasting over pot holes. JUST GO!! turning and cornering, forget about it, it takes turns like a 3 series now.

Over all a great purchase deff my favorite mod yet. :dblthumb:

I've been trying to avoid going to coils (want-to-lower-my-altima-se-r-more-witho ... 11372.html) because I know that they generally ride firm and it can get really annoying on certain road conditions, but I've heard the Tein coils ride nice. And seeing this post is just another person who agrees.

So when you said that the Tein Basics are better than the Eibachs, you're comparing it to your Eibach lowering springs right? Or Eibach coilovers (if those even exist?). This might just cause me to save up some $$$ and get Tein coilovers instead of lower springs and different shocks.

paired with the stillen sway bar tops it off. racing line has a stiffer bar, but i wanted some comfort. i know ive made a good choice, no clunks creeks like other people complain about with the other brands.

Some of the post going on here isn't entirely true and I am definitely not going to waste my time correcting it.

But all you need to know is stock suspension is garbage, Eibach springs is garbage, BC racing coilovers is decent, Tein coilovers all the way. Tein coilovers = quality, quiet, comfortable, and good handling for street use.

Great to hear from another Tein coilover owner other than me. I may be bias but its the truth.

What shocks and struts are available aftermarket for the Altima coupe. I have Eibach's which I would like to pair with a better shock/strut set-up.
