You probably have a stock KA, so I would say go buy a stage 1 ACT, and be happy with it.

Do you plan on drifting DrifterX? lol, buy a stage 3 and tear that ish up till it blows.

The whole "stage" thing is just Gran Turismo-esque marketing speak. Any clutch that's not a cheapo Ebay special is going to be rated by the amount of torque it'll hold.

The ACT with Heavy Duty pressure plate and Peformance Street disc will hold up to 267 ft-lbs of torque.

The Spec "Stage 1" holds up to 265 ft-lbs of torque.

An RPS clutch will hold up to 220 ft-lbs.

For the mods you have, any of the above would be more than adequate. A sprung hub "street" type disc should make more the smoothest engagement. Racing discs will have a "puck" design, 4 puck, 6 puck, etc. The look sort of like the propellor on an airplane instead of just a plain disc...they'll have a pretty harsh "on/off" type engagement that you may not want on a street-driven daily driver.

Having driven a car with a 4 puck clutch, I can't say I'd want to drive it every day to work in heavy stop and go traffic. Would be great for the track though.

Stage 11. Most clutches go up to Stage 10, but mine goes up to 11. It's one higher.

Some so called higher rated clutches can actually be worse and wear and tear faster if they are not rated to there proper torque specs, and also cause additional warping to the pressure plate and flywheel surfaces. Different clutch types are made of different materials that resist differently to heat and rate of speed, torque (friction). Using what some call a stage 3 or a clutch type that can take more than 280FT/LB's can actually put more wear and tear to the pressure plate and clutch disc actually causing that specific clutch type to wear and tear faster than normal, (as it also has an unusual break in time to what would of been recomended, especially if it's a stocker KA with a few bolt on's).If you know that you aren't pulling more than 200HP/200ft/LB's of torque I wouldn't use anything accept your basic street clutches such as Daiken/Exedy or Act full clutch disc types Rated to about 260ft/LB.s. Or if you are into auto X or drifting, using a clutch type that would engage and grip more effectiveley such as a Competition Clutch, ACT, or Exedy 6 puck sprungs. Stay away from unsprung unless you plan on just making it a 1/4mile car....

IMO the Daiken/Exedy's, and the Competition Clutches are the biggest bang for your buck clutch component systems, ACT is really over rated...

Well, no, they're not any louder. But they go to 11 which is one higher than 10, now isn't it? I think that's really what gives us that edge.

it all depends on how you can feather it. both my car and my brothers car have the ACT 6 puck rated to 350ft/lb tourque. its perfectly fine as a dd for each of us. but you can call it 'stage7q'

the guy i bought my s13 from installed a clutch specialties stage 3 and fidanza flywheel, he said it should handle 400hp. it took a while to not have the chatter accociated with engagement, but eventually i got it. i have yet to hear anything good about clutch specialties, but it works

96drifterx: unless you plan on more than bolt ons, the stock clutch will be fine for you
