ok.. so im in the market for a 240 sx and i am hoping to find a close to stock one, preferably with the stock engine in it. my question is what sr20 should i be looking to get if my plans are to rebuild the engine before the swap? so far i have been thinking that a s14/sr20det is what i should be looking for but there are a few different versions of the SR so help me out. Thanks

The way I see it, if you are going to completely rebuild it, u better have the money plus extra to back it up. Its easier to find an s14 sr20det in better condition than the s13's. Ive got a redtop and it works fine with roughly 55XXXXish miles on it. Ive got all the basic bpu's, so now im lookin to throw on a new turbo.

I think its all personal. Also use the search key??? works excelent

If you're going to rebuild it anyways, just get the cheapest one, the S13 redtop SR. You can find the differences by using the search button.

I prefer the S14 SR.

Easier Heater Core lines, by far easier turbo oil and coolant lines as theyre all on the turbo side. No emissions crap. Breather hoses are cleaner and tidy. VTC and T28. Theoretically should have lower miles but, this is the used engine business. Intake manifold is much cleaner and the injector harness with knock sensor and such is all tucked away.

More horsepower. :D.
