Hi Guys,I am given an almost new set of KYB GR2 and I wonder what kind of springs I could use on my S13? I'm not into x-crossing, so its just a daily driver, ocassional street racer, and I would like a better handling/stance, nothing too low. Teins, Pro-Kit, H&R??? Thanks for your input!

exactly, not too low. my gr-2's were jsut fine with the prokits and the maxspeed cheapo springs i got off ebay. which were jsut like the prokits. i had sportlines on my car for a lil while and all the gr-2 blew out. i suggest prokits

I'd try either the Pro Kit or H&R Sport. I'm going to most likely go with the H&R (if I get to do springs before winter, I've got more car parts than time to install them). I don't know if the GR2's will last with the H&R, but they (the GR2) are so cheap I figure I'll just chance it and replace 'em if they blow.

Thanks guys, I also thought the Pro-Kits would be probably the best choice. Any of the Teins, or too low?

I would not go lower than a 1.5" drop with them. Also keep in mind, using these with lowering springs will void the warranty. Both Eibach and H&R say you can use the Prokit and Sport springs with the stock dampers and KYB GR-2.

Thanks Grant, info much appreicated. I hear from different people bad rap about Eibach, why is that? Is the blash towards the Sportline, Pro-Kit, or just in general? Between Eibach and H&R, which one do you guys like? Are both the same lowering/compression?

Cheers!

A lot of folks think the Sportline is too low of a drop for these cars with a progressive rate spring. You can search for those posts for mor details. The Pro-kit/AGX KYB setup is very popular on the other hand... very good handling and a lot better match for the car.

My TEIN S. TECH's are great with my GR-2's, and they sit perfect on stock or even my Watanabe Wheels. You will love the progressive rates on the TEIN springs, trust me, it makes all the difference in ride and handling.

I am about to buy some new shocks & springs soon. Do higher spring rates kill the GR-2's or just too low of a drop? If it's just the drop shouldn't I be able to run rsr race springs?

Both. The shortened travel with lowering springs will wear out the struts faster and they will be more likely to bottom out.

yep, like Grant said, the bashing is more towards the sportlines, way too much of a drop. You'll be replacing shocks at least once a year. Plus they void the agx's warranty as well because of the drop.
