I read the FAQ and it was interesting, but not usefull, as I don't know what all the spring/damper rates relate to.
I think I need new springs as the car leans to the driver side when parked. I'm having the suspension inspected today.
This is what I use my car for every day:
City driving,Highway driving, Going over speed bumps,Driving fast (80-150km/h) up a long, very windey mountain back road (yes, every day, twice some days),Driving up a gravel driveway which often has potholes.
(Climate is temperate rainforest, lots of rain/fog, occasional snow)
Some day I may try my hand at autocross, but as a driving experience, not with any expectation of winning.
Because of the driveway, and my girlfriend's dislike for me spending money on my car, it has to look fairly close to stock. But I'd like to go about an inch lower. Not a lot though. I have stock wheels (teardrop), and stock size tires. The engine is fairly close to stock, if that matters. It's a Canadian market 1989 240sx "se power convenience package", which I'm told has a vlsd, but I don't know how to tell the difference other than if I slam the accellerator on gravel it leaves 2 skidmarks, one deeper than the other.
I'd like to get progressive rate springs as I've heard they have nice ride and nice handling. But I'm also cheap, so they may not be an option.
Given this useage, what do you recommend if I do need springs?
(budget: ~$300-750 CDN, installed)(Have I mentioned thast they must be available from a supplier in Canada so I don't have to deal with Canada Customs/import duty?)(please forgive me if this makes no sense, I'm groggy because I've got a bad cold.)
