I've searched alot of different places and can't find whats exactly needed, they all say "depending on what car you are working on." So im hoping someone could send me a link or possibly list themselves what is needed. I've got the clutch alignment tool, but im hoping theres not too many other special tools I may have to get. Another quick question, why does the flywheel have to be resurfaced? It seems sort of expensive at around 300 ish im wondering if anyone knows where you could get one for around 200 maybe less? Might as well if it costs 100 to get it resurfaced and its already used and abused from the clutch going out on it but im short on money :-/ Any quick tips when installing a clutch, some things I should or definitly shouldn't do? One guy actually put his pressure plate on backwards... burned his new $500 kit up. So I know to definitly pay attention how it's taken apart. Sorry I talk too much but just want to make sure I know what im doing, I don't want to dive into this because I haven't done a clutch replacement before.

the machine shop that's charging you that much to resurface your flywheel is ripping you off. I could see $50 at the most depending on how much they have to take off. I just had my flywheel machined a few weeks ago, and at a minor discount my friend gets at the shop, it cost me $25.

The reason you want a resurfaced flywheel is to provide a nice new clean and flat mating surface for you new clutch plate. If you put a new clutch plate on an old flywheel, it has all the material that's been worn into the surface of the flywheel to contend with.

All you need is the alignment tool. As long as you know how to removed the trans, you should be ok. You will want a friend to help you out while you do this. That way one of you can stabilize the trans as it comes off and goes on, and the other can operate the jack to get it back in the car.

The big trick i can give you is to take a 1 1/16th socket and breaker bar, and find a place to brace the crank pully with it while you tighten the bolts on the pressure plate.

You will probably want a torque wrench to tighten the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts to spec. I've always used threadlock on the flywheel bolts. I can't understand how your friend put his pressure plate on backwards...maybe you meant the clutch disk? If so, most have "flywheel" printed on the side that goes toward the flywheel.

an alignment tool which should come with the clutch is all you really need. besides the usual hand tools to take everything apart etc.

you can resurface the flywheel yourself if you have a drill or air grinder. you need those round surfacing discs found at the depot to do the actual surfacing. basically all your doing is removing the glazing that has built up. dont be aggresive with it or use too coarse of grit. you can also do your rotors the same method.
