I just bought a 92 240sx, and the audio isn't very good in it. I already have a jvc 45x4 watt deck, but i need new speakers and possibley subs and an amp.

What are the speaker hole sizes in the front and back, and what speakers are recomended?

you have 4x6's all around. I would recommend upgrading them to a component set. I put a 5.25" set in my 1990 hatch fairly easily. The mid-range speaker mounts up in the door where your 4x6 was. Then just mount the tweeter wherever you want it. I put mine higher up on the door.

I used an Alpine Type R 5.25" component set. They don't provide much bass on their own, mainly highs and mid-bass fill, but I have them paired three MTX Thunder 6000 tens so it isn't an issue. Oh yeah, I am not running any speakers in the back for rear fill since the subs would just overpower them and make them pretty much pointless.

4x6 speakers are not going to produce that much base at all. The cone is simply not big enough. I would go with audiobahn and get the silk tweeters.

Infinity Kappa 60.5? What size is that? 6x9? How the hell did you fit that into a 4x6 of the fastback? I've been looking around and the most powerful 4x6's I've seen are infinity kappa 4x6's . . they're 60rms and 180max. I'm buying those. The infinity reference is 40rms and 120max . . they're decent also...

6-1/2". i have a j30 and fit them in the stock 4-1/2" location. Just take out the whole thing and get some wood or MDF and make a piece to fit over the hole and then cut a hole in the middle for speaker. I had no previous experience...i did it....in about 8 hours...:)

Ok, like j30 said, the Kappas are aswome speakers for SQ. If your thinking of adding a sub in the future then I suggest a 5 channel amp, for better sound and power. But a 4channel, and/or a bass amp (mono, or bass amp) will also do.

A 5channel amp will run your 4 speakers in the car, plus a subwoofer. Your JVC reciever puts out around 25x4 RMS, which is what your speakers will get consistently.

The Peak or Max, is what your speakers will get in a "loud burst" of music. You dont really need to look @ that number, it really doesnt mean a thing in looking for your system.

Reply if you need help picking out what to purchase...

Audiobahn has way more rms than those infinities. Audiobahn is 80 rms and 90 rms depending on which speaker you choose. Yes this are 4x6 speakers.

Make SURE, you get an amp when buying speakers with high RMS, you never want to underpower your speakers that much. Plus it will sound better anyways...

without amp you want a very efficient speaker.takes less power to make it work.example 85 needs more power than 94 .woods correct.i dont even pay atention to rms personally.i look at things like f.s.,i like it low.ohms,efficiency.vas.and Q.im learning and am not the best explainer of things.thats why i ask the pros.they hang out at termpro.com carsound.com,sounddomain.com.elitecaraudio.com.

MB Quart.

price is what you pay, value is what you get. if you're serious about sound, don't go cheap.

I definitely second that! Anytime you get aftermarket speakers, I recommend getting an amp. I've blown speakers with a decent head unit, not because the head unit puts out so much power, but because it just isn't as clean as when you power them with an amp. I've never blown speakers with an amp...and believe me, I crank the volume!
