Funny you mention this...I just bought new windshield wipers last week, Bosh, and really don't like them as they stick up higher than the OEM. I can see them sticking above the hood line on the car as I drive where I could not see my old ones before that were OEM. Mine on my 95 were 21". My car is at the dealer now and I told them to put back on the originals as I really did not driving down road and seeing the attachment point of my windshiedl wipers down at the base of my windshield. I am 6'4" so I might have a different view point than you (I probably sit higher in the seat so I migh notice them more).

I put a 24" or 25" one on the driver's side, and a 21" on the passenger side. They barely clear one another, and wipe the windshield all the way to the trim. Much improvement, over what was on there. Go to AutoZone, and ry a few sizes, unil you get it right. It has been nearly 2 years, so I don't remember verry well.

I am 6'-3".

I think I had to go 21" on the passenger, so I could put the 24" on the driver's side. I got his idea, fron the Honda, which had mis matched wipers. The passenger wiper has to be sorter, or it hits the driver's side.

that is an awesome idea...I never heard of such a thing. Well I will be call the dealer tomorrow morning to tell them to hold off on putting on the wiper blades and I will pick up a 24" blade for the drivers side. I know what you mean about visibility poor on the drivers side in some areas...hopefully this will take car of it.

Jeep Wranglers have the same thing. Longer Drivers side blade for Clearer, better vission in the rain and shorter Passeger side blades. I thought the wiper bracket itself had to be able to accomidate a longer blade or you would just be wasting your money. The jeep only let's you go one size. At least mine did. Check it.

I think I've usually done 22 on drivers side and 21 on passenger.

I was very unhappy with my OEM wipers. Perhaps they had been sitting for a while and the rubber was rotting, but they didnt work worth a darn.

Amazing I probably change inserts every 150-180 days [say every 7,500 miles]...........just a habit. I clean them once with alcohol....rubber doesn't last long in ozone Atlanta.

I actually measured them this morning. 23" on driver's side, and 21" on passenger side. Bosch, complete blade, not just replacement rubber.

any downsides to this mod?possibly more strain on the wiper motor and assembly that will shorten its life? if not,why didnt the factory spec the largest size? come on qtech, lay it on us!

what is the factory size???? according to bosch it's 21", but when i replaced those yesterday, they were shorter than the ones i had on (by the previous owner). the older ones (longer) worked fine!! can't imagine another inch, and an ounce or two of weight would effect the wiper motor.

weight difference may be small, but going 21 to 23 is 10%,21 to 24 is 15% larger, and maybe 10-15% more drag sweeping across the windscreen at speed will cause a like decrease in component longevity, you are asking the mechanicals to move 10-15 percent more than engineered to?

just installed 22" driver side wiper, they didn't have a 23". it matches the lenght of the old wipers, can tell by the sweep stain in the glass. works fine, and a 23" would definitly work, too. the 21" passenger side now looks too short, though!!!
