im looking at 17 inch rims for my 91 240sx. i think i found some for a good price. they are 2 17x9 sportmax wheels in the rear and 17x7 in the front. is this a good setup? its just for street use and daily driving. and what size/brand tires should i go for??

2" is a pretty big stagger--I wouldn't want more than 1" difference.

I wouldn't recommend sportmax wheels, but that's just me. They're pretty damned heavy, and I'd rather have something used over new sportmaxxes.

Anyhow, 17x8 F, 17x9 R, or even 17x9 all the way around is what I'd shoot for.

I would get 17x8 and 17x9. There is nothing wrong with sportmax wheels, I have had mine for over a year now and they only weighed 22lbs for a 17x9. Which ones do you plan on getting?

these ones. the only problem is they dont come in 17x8. so if i want a 1 inch offset i would need to upgrade to 18x8.5 and 18x7.5 how well do 18's fit on s13's??

get the hell out with that sportmax BS. They are Super heavy, and that bandwagon is long over. Now it's cool to hate on them, as such

no, no and no.

18's on an s13 need work to look right. staggered wheels on a daily is stupid, tires cost more and need to be replaced more often. running a wider wheel/tire in the back increases understeer.

some cars come with staggered wheels for a reason, the 240sx isn't one of them.

For Daily driver 17x9 Front and Rear with a +20-30 offset are perfect. Tire size for that set up would be 235/40 17

For show/Drift 18x10 +5 offset Rear and 18x9 +15 Front. Rear tires 245/40 18 Front tires 235/40 18. This is what im running on my S13. And its a pretty crazy setup. Have to pull and roll rear fenders and screw with camber to get them to fit nice and flush with the fender

The 17x9s all the way around with that offset sit pretty close to flush with your fenders. Depending on what you have for suspension. If you have stock suspension, the 17x9s probally wont clear unless the offset is under +20. Or you might have to run spacers.

Just remember rims have to be nice and flush with those fenders to look JDM tight. LOL

Just get 17x9 all around, you might need a spacer in the front but atleast it will look better.
