I have some 16 x 7.5 kosei k1 wheels that i just had painted an insterestingly awesome shade of bronze. And im wondering what size tires to run. I have been hearing that i should use 225 50 16 because i want to maintain the stock rolling radius that is why im going with the 50's but im wondering mainly about the width i have been hearing more and more good things about tire stretching and before i buy some tires id like to know what i should do. Whether i should use 205's or 225's? what are the advantages and disadvantages of either one? And would it be good to stretch 50 series tires? or is it better to stretch like a 40 series tire because the point of stretching tires is to have the most sidewall strength?

Well one of the main reasons you'd want to stretch is to clear your fenders... I have 195/50s on my 16X8s and its a mild stretch.

For extra help with pictures, you can check out the wheel/tire section of Nico, and there is a fitment database with all the info and stuff.

Does it make a difference that im using 50 series tires though? i wouldnt mind using 195s or 205s on them but i want to keep them 50s if possible. if thats a bad idea then i would use a different setup if you have something that you recommend.

Don't stretch them, it will only look stupid and you'll regret doing it. Not that a 195 would even look all that stretched on a 7.5 anyways. Just stick a 215 or 225 and you'll be good.

Don't get those wheels. They are only marginally bigger than stock, and you will regret the purchase within 1 year and then upgrade to some 17x9s like everybody else.

The rule I was taught on tire width to rim width is as follows.BUT this was for normal tires not the super low profile and intended as a guide.

The rim should be about 85% of the tire width. The minimum is 70 % and the maximum is 100%

I found this out many years ago when i ran about 60 -70% and was unhappy with the flopping around.

So using this guideline your nominal is 225 wide; min =190 and max 270 in round numbers.

Good Luck.
