Anyone running 17s on their 1st gen Q and what size tires are ideal? I was thinking 235 or 245/50. I know the load rating needs to be above 97 right? Let me know what you guys are running.Thanks.

255/45 works well and has a good load rating, needs at least 8" rims though.

245/45/17 are nice on a 17x7 rim.

Check out the Falken Ziex - I love mine.

I have 225/50/17's on my car, and the ride is fine. The only other size I would go to is the 245/45/17, which keeps you close to the original tire size. Check Tire rack, they have some smoking deals.

Sumitomo's for under $100 each.

Stay away from directional. They are noisy, and tend to feather on the inside. The Q is tough on the inner sidewall.

I have the Nitto NT455 225/50/17, and have been pleased. The noise is a little high, compared to the Bridgestone RE92, but they were $50.00 a piece cheaper, and the tread has lasted twice as long.

That is the size and brand tire I now have on my Q (that I am selling ... pictures are in another thread), but I have mixed reports on the Falken Ziex (Sorry, AZhitman)! I will report on my experiences soon ...

I should add that Tire Rack and others (like the Falken web site) do recommend a minimum 7.5" rim width for this size of tire. Personally, I would be willing to risk them on a 7.0", but be aware of this point ...

Tire Rack does not carry the Falken brand. Victoria Tire in Los Angeles does and their price for the 245/45-17 Ziex was pretty darn good: $100 each. Check out their web site at http://www.victoriatire.com/

245/45/17 BFG g-Force T/A KDWS about 10k on them so far and still liking them.

Had Bridgestone RE... something another before, they were on the car when I bought it. Seemed REAL nice, but wore out QUICK.

I MUST have winter tires by the time the first flake falls here. Learned that the hard way last year.

Z,

I can't find the other thread. Are you selling your car or just the wheel/tire combo?

I am selling the car now since I got the M45 - the other thread is about the pictures I posted on my Q45. I have been a bit swamped, but I intend to contact you very shortly about the "first dibs" on another set of G35 rims that I had promised to speak to you about! Been busy with a Company Board meeting till today ... will get to this tomorrow, I hope!
