I have a 93 240sx se, and I just purchased a set of speakers 4*6plate based on crutchfield web site recommendation of the size for the door panel and the rear hatch. The door speakers will not mount due to the depth and the holes come no where close. Is it true that the se 240sx was set up with a factory amp with the active speaker system? What type of speakers are you guys running in the factory location. Im trying to avoid any extra weight so no speaker boxes, crossovers, and 3 or 4 amps, just a nice clean stock looking set up.

I have already replaced the head unit with a aftermarket radio.

if they are plate speakers, u may be able to get them to fit if u cut the 2 corners off (mounting holes and all on the tweater side)

also if u have a nice aftermarket cd player that has good power u may want to bypass the factory amps, think about it even low end cd players made in 2004 should sound better than those stock amps from the early 90's (the are actually panasonic, and ive grown to be not so fond of the way panasonic sounds, even though i own a high end shelf system, have owned a high end head unit, and speakers, all from panasonic) it might just be my taste, but i like boomy low end, and panasonic stuff i have owned just doesnt fit my taste

panasonic units have a notoriously flat bass curve. i would have to say i wouldnt like the way they sound either.

when wiring aftermarket speakers into any car with a factory amp, you should bypass it.

the factory speaker sizes are 4x6. a lot of times the holes wont line up with factory holes even if the speakers are the same size. and each aftermarket speaker has a different depth to it, so you have you make sure you measure your clearance and check the specs of speakers before you buy them.

i work at circuit city installing sound systems :D

BIGBX1, I managed to get 6.5 speakers both in my doors and in my hatch. All it takes is some basic hand tools and creativity. All you need to do is make you own mounting plates out of some fairly thin board(I call it beautification board, don't know the technical name). usually 1/8-1/4 inch is a good width. With 4x6 speakers you should just need to bend(or cut with dremel) so that they can be mounted in the stock speaker mounts. The backs of the stock mounts may need to be cut out to accomadate the speakers, easy with a dremel.
