I know I will be changing my tires somewhere between 20k and 25K miles. My tires sizes are:

Front: 225/40/R19 89Y

Rear: 245/40/R19 94Y

Front Rim is 19 X8.0

Rear Rim is 19 X 8.5

These are stock numbers

I am probably going to buy the same tires but I want fatter tires of the same 19 inches that will fit the current rims I have using 5the same brand of tires. Can anyone give me an advice on this? Thanks!

I've done this....I highly recommend it!! The wider tires look much better than the stock sizes. Plus, there is less than a 5% difference in height, so your speedo and VSC are not affected. Do a search for more info...this was brought up not to long ago.

Here are the sizes that will work:

245/35 -19 front275/35 -19 rear

I found this to be the most helpful calculator when determining tire sizes...

A 235/40/19 front would also work. It's ever so slightly closer in size to stock than the 245/35/19.

The first number is the width and the second number is related to the height...However, its not that straightforward...google it for a better answer (its confusing).

...and I LOVE my OEM wheels

Joe603:

Thanks for the info. Do you have the same rim size as I have listed above 19 X 8.0 (Front) and 19 X 8.5 (Rear)? And if you do, did you ijnstall the tire sizes you have suggested on those same rims? My rims are the same as yours in design.

Also i checked this tire place on line, which was extremely helpful. They are tirerack.com. They actually fit the car and the rims on a selected color of your car picture which is constantly changing. I was impressed with their technology.

The first number is the width expressed in millimeters. Divide by 10 to get centimeters.

There are 2.54 centimeters/inch.

The second number is called the Aspect Ratio. It is the height expressed as a percentage of the width.

The last number is the Rim Diameter. Sometimes it is accompanied by a couple of letters like ZR19. The Z is the speed rating. The R means it's a Radial (tubeless).

Example: 225/40/WR19.

225 millimeters wide = 22.5 cm =8.86 inches wide

40 Aspect Ratio- 225 x 40%= 90 = 3.54 inch tall sidewall.

This tire is designed for a 19 inch rim and is W speed rated.

^ exactly...that's why I said it wasn't straightforward!

Jack,

Yes, I have the same rims as you...just the performance tire & wheel package.

Do a search...I posted pics of how they look on another thread.
