My sr20 ran about 170 this winter and I upgraded to a gt28rs this summer and now it runs 200 to 210 degrees on warm days. Whats the normal temp and what is the thermostat set at on a sentra sr20 thermostat? Thats what I'm using and I'm wondering if its set high like 190 or somthing.

You running a front mount intercooler.???That will make your water temps go wayyyy up..But yeah 210's alittle hot..But still far from overheating..Its been hitting almost 100 were i live..And my car's water temp as got up to 200F when i run it hard..Normal driving it will stay around 185F-190F but i do have a Nismo thermostat,And a 80/20 water coolent mix with Redline water wetter..Just keep a close eye on your water temp gauge..You can go up to 220F and still be fine..Just dont let it go any higher then that..

thanks for the info, yeah I'm running front mount, but I have 2 electric fans and a new copper/plastic radiator so I figured it would be around 180 tops on the highway......

84 degrees celcius, aint too bad. It's a bit early in the morning and I'm still a bit dazed but the stock thermo should be opening just a hair below 80 degrees C. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

180 sounds much better I'm thinking of buying a nismo thermostat. Or maybe drilling a few holes in the one I have now.

sorry to bring this thread back but isnt the normal operating temp for a sr around 190-200 degrees? running at 180 degrees sounds like too low

I think the temperature readings that you get from aftermarket water temp gauge differs substantially depending on where you place the sensor. I run an aftermarket probe in the upper radiator pipe since at this point is where the hot coolant comes out of the motor. My friend has a nismo one that goes where the stock temperature gauge is and his gauge reads a lot lower than mine since the stock temp gauge is located right where the coolant comes back after passing through the radiator.

Nismo thermostat is 147degrees... having the FMIC etc.. makes it run hotter.

170-190 is where you should really be.
