Well, the biggest difference is the physical confrontations. States vary in their repo laws, but generally it is "breaching the peace" when someone says you can't take their vehicle. It means legally you can't take it, at least right then. You can't fight with debtors. That kind of thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and the public/courts do not look upon the repossessor in a favorable light.
Much of it is perception and he-said, she-said. You must be on your best behavior, because you don't know who is watching. For instance, I flipped off a debtor that had confined me to his property and threatened my life. He just so happened to take my picture and he sent it to the bank and they fired my company as their repo agency. Lesson learned, but never mind that he threatened me and confined me to his property. The Indiana State Police didn't want to help me out there either. "You'll have to call the county. We can't help you."
A "day in the life" can be very boring or entirely too exciting. Sometimes it's just average, but the risk is always there.
