I'm running my '96 Zenki and for some reason I have a problem. I just noticed it has started accelerating fine until it hits 3k rpm. From 3k rpm to 4k rpm it feels like it is bogging down, as soon as it hits 4k it's like it breaks free and revs freely again.

A rev at idle seems fine. I've done my maintenance. KA24DE. New plugs, new wires, new cap, new rotor, new rad., new electric fans and new exhaust. My poor old KA has just hit the 150,000 mark, compression seems good across the 4. Only mods are intake, exhaust and suspension.

Maybe it is me, but I can feel it bog down from 3 to 4 k rpm. Any ideas on what to try or check?

Buy a FSM and get all the voltage specs for like Mass Air Flow, Throttle Position Sensor, and check all of your grounds. Oh and change out your fuel filter if it has never been done.

Forgot I replaced the MAFS & fuel filter too.

I checked a lot of grounds and cleaned everything up before reconnecting. The small sensor before the MAFS on the intake, what was that called again? (FSM on other computer that is broke) Anyway I was having problems with that stalling me out, found it only has about two of the many small wires still connected, it's worn through pretty bad. If I keep the wire from moving it runs fine, if I hit a bump it stalls me. I seriously need to replace that.

Also, it may be electrical since every now and then my temp gauge bobs up and down as I accelerate...

That sensor right after the mass is your air temp. sensor if im correct. Ok but I lost you when you said that something has 2 wires and they are worn. Did you replace your coolant sensor by chance yet?

Breaking out the online FSM with 56k is like watching paint dry... lol Let me take a look.

Wow, this is slow. What section of the FSM is it in? I will download just that part. I believe you are correct on that being the air temp sensor I was so vaguely talking about before, sorry. The wires for that sensor are worn through and most of the wire is frayed away. It's only connected by a hair thin wire or two.

Hmm, no I never did replace the coolant sensor. Another one I have to look up in the FSM.

Not a problem man. Ummm but yes, if you have 2 wires that you can see that are barely hanging on there then I would assume that you have more. Look for where you would have the most heat and check the plugs and see if you have anymore bare wires. Hope it helps.

Yeah the connection is worn through where the previous owner had a ghetto intake rigged and the wire rubbed when the intake moved all over the place. I'm pretty sure that is why my MAFS went bad. I have checked out all the other wires/connections I can find. Everything seems fine everywhere else with the old jiggle test.

What I am saying is do a visual check on some of the plugs up and around the valve cover and the wires for the mafs. The only other thing I could really think of is that maybe your fuel pump sock could be clogged up being as all this new ethanol gas. More than likely I would say check more of the harness.

Checked the sock about a month ago, everything looked good. So far all the plugs look good except the air temperature sensor, I need to get one of those. Someone has to be doing a part out right now.

My next big question is this... Where in the FSM do you find the location of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor? I just want to see where it is but I have to be missing something in the FSM because I can't find the damn thing. Anyone know what section of the FSM this is in?
