What should I look for when I am looking at buying a Z32?

Got a question for your! I am planing to buy my GF a 300ZX Z32 90-93 2 seater or 2+2 (which is what she wants, so she can have a back seat!)

I have been looking at Ebay and Autotrader (for ATL Area), and 90 goes for about 4500+

What should I look for when I picking out a Z. what are the know problem of 90-93s Z32? I know petty sure we won't be able to afford a Twin Turbo! But she also wants a T top! Do they make 2+2 T tops?

Every info will help alot.

if you find a Z without t-tops for a good price my suggestion say screw what she wants and buy it. the slicktop Z's were very very rare only i think about 600 of them made. now my suggestion would be a late model 1990 300zx or a 1991 300zx. reasoning for this is i dont like airbags. oh and about the t-top question yes the 2+2's come with t-tops. things to look for mainly service records. at 60k and 120k the timming belt, tbelt tensioners, cam seals, water pump, and thermostat (im sure i left a couple things out) need to be replaced. on the 90-93 models you might want to check to make sure the recall on the power transitor unit has been done. if it hasnt its really not a big deal my 1990 still has the one on it before the recall. but, if it does go out i think nissan would still honor the recall. the 90-93 has some transmission issues some of the trannys ended up with some soft syncros and the trannys sometimes give out around 120k (manual only). also the 1990 had some head issues i forgot what they were exactly but those tended to showup around 60k so if the cars got 100k or better on it i wouldnt even worry about. other then that find out why they are selling it, if they are selling cause stuff started to wrong like lots of things i would almost avoid it. when stuff starts to go wrong with Z cars alot of times things jsut keep going wrong until you are just flat out broke. oh and then just check for normal stuff you would when buying a car. and if you have anymore questions ask away.

i would get her a 2 seater but there are 2+2 t-tops and i had just recently purchased a 92 300zx from a lady and man is she a beauty she has the white pearl paint. your girlfriend would look good in my car j/k with me j/k.

Along the same line as the original poster, I'm looking to buy a 91 Z for myself, 5 speed, twin turbo, 95k miles, used car dealership that deals in sports cars (had a supercharged chevelle, a 67 charger, two Nova SS's, a C4 and a C5 Corvette all sitting on the lot beside the Z =D) they're going to run a free carfax report for me, I'm going to watch them do a compression test, as well as inspect it. Car was broken into this weekend, thieves busted out the driver's side window and took the head unit, they just had a new one installed by a local car audio shop and replaced the windows already. Its got t-tops, great paint, new tires, stock rims, stock everything except the stereo. What should I look for? I saw synchros above, anything else specifically?
