Hello ,I am 15 and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an sr20de that is about 220 euros and when I have enough money buy a s13 240sx or a 200sx body and put the engine in there.I want to know what are the differences are there between the sr20de and the sr20det because I know that sr20det swaps are not that hard as compared to other engine swaps.I'm afraid that if i buy the engine now I will encounter difficulties that I won't be able to find a solution to.Please tell me what I need to know before buying the engine or should I not buy it because there are a lot of things that need to be custom made.
p.s The only thing that the engine needs is an alternator which is very cheap everything else is perfect.

SRs, turbo or not, are pretty much straight swaps in any S-chassis. So long as the engine you're getting is the same generation as the chassis, it's literally one of the smoothest and easiest swaps ever.

The other part of your question about the differences: there aren't many. The internals are slightly different, and the non-turbo obviously lacks the turbo. If it were me, and I knew eventually I'd want the DET, I'd just wait, but there's nothing wrong with going with a DE if you're young and thinking about cost.

You could, but the compression ratio of the DE is higher than that of the DET. The DE is 9.5:1 typically while the DET runs around 8.5:1. That will limit the amount of boost you can safely pass through the DE. I don't have enough experience putting turbos on the DE to be able to answer how much boost you could run. But to answer your question, yes, you could get the bolt on parts from a DET and it would fit. You would need to make provisions for the oil/coolant lines. The DET has pickups and returns for all the fluids needed for the turbo. That would probably be the biggest hurdle. And I would recommend getting some aftermarket form of fuel management.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of buying one thing with the idea of swapping it out for another, better, thing. For example: You ultimately want an SR20DET. You have neither the engine, current funds, or the vehicle for. At the young age of 15, there's plenty of time for you to continue to save up. I know it's only 220euros ($250 USD), but you could easily use that money and put it into a beter DET when that time comes to buy the engine. Hell, you might even be able to find an S13 that already has the DET swap done, then you're stuck trying to sell the DE to someone else or using it for whatever few parts you can use off of it in the DET. Don't spend money now just to to spend money down the road to replace what you already spent money on to get.
