My project started out as a budget project but two years later it has become totally different. Can you guys help me estimate how much horsepower I should expect? Here is my set up

T3 super Sixty .48 AR460 cc injectors (cleaned and tested) E-manage with injector and ignition harness installedMSD 6a and blaster SS coil (Idles like a champ now)BD wastegateDSM BOVFMIC

I was going to run like 6-7 PSI when I started the project but now I think I can run alot more safely. I just don't know how much, What do you think?

The turbo you are ruining is too small for the KA

Here is the compressor map for that turbo, I plotted the KA air flow at 9 psi (ignore the increasing line only look at the horizontal one)

As you can see you are going out of the efficiency island over 5k rpm (or 22 airflow)…so after 5k the turbo will be inefficient and you will start loosing pressure in the manifold

It looks like you can run more boost, although you should probably check that spring in the wastegate. I read that BD Wastegates came with a 15 psi spring. If it is a 15, change it. After you check that spring i would start off with 7 psi, and slowly work your way up. do you have an upgraded fuel pump?

It's not too small.

This, of course, is his opinion. It's all relative...maybe too small for those wishing to have an impractical drag car that doesn't get full boost till 4500 rpm and then shreds its rear tires unless they're slicks.

For someone who wants an unbeatable daily driver (or autocross car) with incredible throttle response, a T3 60 is a great choice. How do I know? I've been using one for 2 years, and I guarantee you I reach full boost and have more brutal throttle response than all the larger turbo's out there...it's perfect for a daily driver. It pulls the second you step on the gas...there's no lag and then some surge of power that catches you off guard. The powerband is incredibly linear for a turbocharged car. Sure the boost decreases past 5000 or so, but again, how often are you planning on running past 5000 rpm in a stock engine? The KA made its max power in stock trim at 5500 rpm.

That being said, you WILL need to run more boost on this turbo to get the same numbers as larger, more efficient turbos (that is, to push the same amount of air). 7 psi from a T3/T04E 50 trim is probably about 9 psi from a T3 60.

To sum up, it's not too small of a turbo, unless you have unrealistic power goals and could care less about throttle response and lag (and this does not seem to be the case). AceInHole made some incredible numbers out of a T25, which is smaller than the T3 60.

My goal is a car that is fun to drive not a dyno queen. I thought this turbo was perfect

And you are right. This is the same turbo I have put in my car. The amount of punch it gives, and the lack of lag makes it a lot of fun. With 10 lbs. it is extremely easy to loose that rear end. It's not gonna run 11's but it is so much fun in the street. By the time you hit the 5000 rpms, (which is not always), you are so cool wit it. My tiny T3 rocks

i can attest to fabio's statement also. you really must know what ur goal is with ur car. If you want a balls out car, go with the t3/t4 or str8 t4. Running a str8 t3 is not gonna get you neck snapping performance. A str8 t3 will just get you really quick to 80 or 90 on a local road with the slightest touch of the throttle and without the use of going near the redline..................

My T3/TO4E has NO lag to speak of and will pull WAY past the KA's rpm limits. If you call boost coming on at 3000rpm lag then you've got problems.

ALthough I did enjoy the inbstant boost when I had my first Skyline in stock trim, the drop off simply got very old after only a short time. Once you rev the motor on boost up to 7000rpm you won't want to shift at 5000 anymore.

I can't help but think in terms of being able to add more A$$ to the car if desired later. If you make the wrong turbo choice from the begining then you'll have to change out the whole setup.

Boost is more addictive then Heroin...

Is your T3/T04E the "50" trim with the .63 a/r turbine or the .48 a/r turbine?

If I ever upgrade I think i'd get a T3/T04E with the .48 a/r turbine, even though supposedly the .63 is the best, because it will still be able to flow more than a T3 60 but will have even better throttle response (in theory) than the .63 a/r one.

I have the .63 The .48 is to small for my liking.
