Ok i didnt have my front licence plate

when i got my car(used 06 coupe) from tustin infiniti dealer

on December 30 i got a ticket for not having my front licence plate.

so i asked my dealer to get my front license plate.

the dealer was saying that it is not going to be a problem because

i have my temporary license paper stuck on my window.

so i went to the police station and they said that i have to have

my license plate even if i have my paper on the window.

so i told my dealer and she took my back license plate to copy it.

after that i extended the date for the inspection and waited for my

dealer to call me. after about 2weeks i called the dealer's cellphone

and she never answered. Even when i called infiniti dealer to reach

her, they alway said that she is not available right now. so 1 month later

i called the DMV Office in dealership and they said that they just got my

license plate from the dealer WTF!?

And that DMV Office lady told me it would take about 1week to take care.

so i waited and called her after one week. And the DMV Office lady from the

infiniti dealership said that they lost my paper work for the reapplying

license plate. so i have to re sign it.

what should i do with this dealership...

my Due date for the car inspection is april 1 and they are still working

on it.

they wasted my time, money, gas, and gave me so much stress

Welcome to NICO

Dealers need hugs too.

Call the dealer to make an appointment to speak to the general manager or owner. Dress neatly and speak in a professional manner. Briefly explain your situation that you were not provided with the proper license plates after purchase and it has now become a police problem. Ask if he/she can resolve this problem for you? You can always escalate to consumer affairs, local TV news help but give the dealer a chance first.

Good luck

Welcome to NICO!

Document everything... get it all in writing!

This way... if you choose to fight this ticket... you have everything in black and white so there no "finger pointing" going on.

They should be responsible as it was their error.

Welcome to the forums.

As I understand it, you bought your car from a dealer and it did not have the front plate. If this is the case the dealer should have removed the back plate and forwarded it to the DMV. You could have legally driven without the plates as long as you had the paper temporary reg. taped to your window.

You would be far better going to the DMV, taking that plate inside and paying the 10 bucks (I believe) for a new plate. Look at it another way. If there is another plate (the front plate) that matches the back plate on your car, and some turd puts it on his car and starts collecting parking tickets, or even robs a bank, you're going to be the one they look at.

Don't wait for the dealer, pay the 10 bucks and be done with it. Then ask the dealer for the 10 bucks.

BTW, Ivory Pearl Gs are the prettiest.

This is what I did, last time I got a fix it ticket.

I took my rear license plate and mounted it on the front and took a picture of it. I may have Photoshopped the stickers out of it and then I sent it in with my $10 or $15.

As far as the dealership goes, I agree with Telco. There's no need to continue dealing with someone who isn't being professional. The key to getting taken care of is to NOT get irrate. Just state it as it is and ask the manager to fix the situation.

It is not your fault that you got the ticket and it's not your fault that they lost the paperwork. Maybe you can get them to throw in an oil change or something for your time and inconvenience.
