Follow the manufactures recommendations. Change oil following the early schedule. Don't baby it, don't abuse it either. Start it up and allow it to warm up enough to drive away smoothly, no longer (as long as weather permits). Keep the speed and rpm down until normal operating temperatures are reached and then drive normally.

Treat it well and it will treat you well.

There are different schools of thought on how you should break-in a new engine.

Here is my advice:

1. For the first 1k miles:-don't go over 4k RPMs-don't use the cruise control or stay at the same RPM for long periods of time.-Try not to brake hard-Don't let the engine idle for extended periods of time.

After 1k, change the oil (doesn't have to be synthetic). You can now start to drive normal, but don't push to car...yet.

After 2k, change the oil and filter with a good synthetic. Now drive however you want!

The reason is that all of those parts need time to settle in. This method will ensure your engine has a long life.

Good luck, and lets see some pics!

+1 for the most part.

Changing the oil at 1k is a good idea to get a lot of the metal filings out...you can then just use the normal 3750 change interval for oil changes, and a lot of people recommend using a synthetic after about 7500 miles, once the engine has truely broken in.

Either way, you can't go wrong with changing early!

Everyone has their own way. I'll tell you what you shouldn't do though...1-rev past 4,000 rpm2-apply more than 50% throttle3-drive when temp needle is below the C. (as soon as that needle moves, you can move)4-Brake very hard5-Crash

You dont HAVE to change oil too early. 1875 miles is when I would change it. Then, have a blast.

Further to this...why no advice regarding the backseat break-in? Telco, bring us your old...ahem 'experienced' wisdom regarding the backseat break-in procedures.

Welcome to NICO

After 25 times with the gf in the back seat it should be broken in.Keep a box of tissues back there so the seats don't get messy.

Don't let anyone bring anyfood inside the car....

if you go out on a date.. and she wants a box... just tell her to throw that food away... if she still insist to take the food home. Ditch her! (if you're a nice guy.. call a cab for her)
