I have a 90 240sx with 203K thats running hella rough and is dire need of help. I have about 3k to spend and I'm trying to figure out what route to take. Should I go KA24E rebuilt and add a turbo, KA24DE and/or maybe turbo, or try to pull off a SR20DET. I'm not to sure witch way to go and would appreciate some help please. Also the car will be daily driven and will be beatin up on the weekends. Thank you.

Whichever engine build you choose to go with is really up to you. Either way youll probably end up spending all your loot. The single overhead can make a decent turbo platform if you go through it thoroughly, same with the twin cam. As for swapping motors, it would cost even more when everythings all said and done with an sr or rb.

for $3,000 your options are limited.

unlesss you have a hook-up at a shop somewhere or are proficient enough to do the install labor yourself, a rebuilt and *possibly* turboed ka-de seems to be the route to take.

although, with the prices of used ka motors, you could swap one in to get you running while you save the rest of the money while you decide on turbo kit or swap.

You can get a used Ka for under 500 easily.Got mine for 300 and some people give theirs away. If you are ka24e now keep it that way and boost it. Great platform. So you don't have to worry about new wiring harness.

You don't need to rebuild the engine because its running rough. It's probably just somehting simple.
