To each his own... I prefer the KA as it has greater displacement, and an iron block, same pistons as the SR .... I think the rods are even good for boost.

But, depending how much care has been taken care of the engine, really depends on how long the boosted KA will last you. You may never have a problem, or it may blow-up on your first run.. Everybody does the SR swap, but few have braved the KA... I say go KA!!

P.S. Don't boost it more than around 300-350 hp, unless you want instant piston missiles.. Untill you upgrade your internals..

When i think about it there is no replacement for displacement. Everyone is doing the sr swap, so i would go with ka-t.

You can turbo the ka with less money then doing a sr swap and with even the simplest setups its easy to make more power then a stock sr. I would take into consideration what condition your ka is in now, if it runs like crap now, turboing it isnt going make it run any better. If it has fairly low miles and has been taken care of you should be ok as long as you have a good tune. i would just check for leaks and do a compression test to get an idea.

i like my n/a ka24de in my s13. im looking for a s14 to start my ka-t project right now. ka has proven better torque, reliability, and finacially more friendly than sr20. do your research and see what sounds better to you and your driving.

SR engine are for the noobs of tuning.. no offense intended for those with SR engines... They are pretty much plug and play. Which is nice if you arent interested in actually working to get performance. The SR is nice because of it's higher redline, but that can be attained in the KA by getting lighter rotating gear, cranks, rods and pistons, but you usually sacrifice strength when doing so..
